Hold on to your collars, Oklahoma pugs!
The fifth annual Puggerfest will be Oct. 4 this year. We just got word from Gail Tucker, founder of Homeward Bound Pug Rescue. The Princess of Pugs says the big event will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stars and Stripes Park.
Gail stopped by last year to talk about the big day. Listen to our Pet Show podcast with her.
In case you haven’t been to Puggerfest before, it’s great! There are pugs everywhere! People bring their own Pugs, and Gail brings all the dogs available for adoption. They play, pant and drool with joy nonstop. This picture is of the 2006 melee.
Admission usually is $5, and the money goes to help foster homeless or unwanted pugs in the Oklahoma City area.
My neighbor actually is one of Gail’s foster moms. I’ve seen many pugs out in her yard. Many are blind and deaf, either from birth defects or abuse. Thankfully there are folks here who have good hearts and stand up for the little ones who can’t stand up for themselves.
