Try out for NBC’s ‘Minute to Win It’ game show

   Enjoy last week’s premiere of “Minute to Win It”? Catch a new episode at 6 p.m. Sunday on NBC.
   Or better yet, try out for the show. That way you’ll have a front-row seat and a chance to win $1 million.
   Guy Fieri (“Diners, Drive-ins and Dives”) hosts the family-friendly game show in which contestants face 10 challenges that escalate in level difficulty when the previous one is completed in 60 seconds.
   Anyone 18 or older interested in trying out should email the casting team at minutetowinit@gmail.com. Be sure to include your contact info, city you live in, photos and a paragraph about yourself.
   But it might be a good idea to go online to www.NBC.com and take the show’s 3-minute challenge first. That offers a taste of some of the deceptively simple games that need to be completed in a minute to win big bucks.

NBC searching for ‘America’s Next Great Restaurant’ owner

   NBC is going to debut a new reality
competition series soon. Don’t know for sure what it will be called, but it will include celebrity chef Bobby Flay from “Iron Chef America: The Series.”
   He is the first of five key restaurant and business leaders to sign on for the series tentatively titled “America’s Next Great Restaurant.” A few months ago, NBC was calling the show “United Plates of America.”
In any case, casting is underway for the show that NBC claims is offering the biggest prize in reality show history — the opportunity to open a new restaurant chain in three cities across America.
   Interested applicants need to go to www.nbc.com/casting and pre-register for one of the open casting calls — March 19-20 in New York City, New York; March 22 in Raleigh, N.C.; March 24 in Nashville, Tenn.; March 26 in Columbus, Ohio; March 28 in Chicago; March 30 in Kansas City, Kan.; April 1 in Denver; or April 5 in Los Angeles.
   And to the open casting call bring a filled out and signed application, photo ID and anything you feel would help pitch your restaurant concept. Elements can be visual, edible or even wearable, and applicants will have a limited time to pitch their ideas.
   The thousands of ideas will be narrowed down, and each week on the show, the investors will put the chosen few through rigorous challenges to discover which contestant’s concept has the greatest potential for success.
   And one contestant’s dream will become a reality.

Attend a live taping of ‘America’s Got Talent’ — tickets are free!

   Enjoy watching “America’s Got Talent”
on television? Why not attend a live taping of the show?
   Tickets are free! But you do have to apply for them by going online to www.ocatv.com.
   Host Nick Cannon, returning judges Sharon Osbourne and Piers Morgan and Season 5’s new judge, comedian Howie Mandel, will be at each taping. So will some of the country’s best amateur performers.
   And one taping location isn’t too far from Oklahoma. It’s March 25 and 26 in Dallas at The Music Hall at Fair Park (909 First Avenue). But hurry! The 6 p.m. session on March 26 is already full, although tickets may still be available for the 1 p.m. sessions both days and the 6 p.m. session on March 25.
   If, by chance, those dates don’t work or tickets are gone, other tapings are scheduled for April 7-8 in Orlando, April 21-23 in New York City and April 27-28 in Chicago.
   And for viewers who would still like to audition for Season 5, scheduled to premiere June 1 on NBC, submit a video online at www.agtauditions.com.

DIY Network searching for America’s Most Desperate Landscape; Winner gets a yard makeover and TV special

   Have a yard that could use a makeover?
   DIY Network has kicked off its third annual search for America’s Most Desperate Landscape. And the winner will get a major yard makeover and a starring role in a DIY special.
   To be considered, go to www.DIYnetwork.com and download photos and videos or your lackluster lawn. Submissions will be accepted until May 3.
   On May 18, four finalists selected by DIY Network will appear live on NBC’s “Today” show and compete head-to-head in landscape-related challenges.
   To the winner goes a $25,000 landscape makeover, courtesy of DIY’s “Desperate Landscapes” host Jason Cameron and his crew.
   And on June 8, DIY will premiere the “America’s Most Desperate Landscape” special documenting the search and build.
   Even if your yard isn’t deemed as the most desperate one around, homeowners can pick up some good tips on “Desperate Landscapes,” which begins its sixth season April 7.

Enter Ultimate Lost Fan Promo Contest to win trip to series finale party

   “Lost” ends its six-season run with a two-hour series finale on May 23.
   And ABC is giving fans a chance to attend the show’s series finale party in Los Angeles.
   To enter the Ultimate “Lost” Fan Promo Contest, go to www.ABC.com and create a 35-second “Lost” finale promo. The site even features mash-up tools, including images, sound bites and special effects, to help make the video.
   All entries will vie for the opportunity to be broadcast on-air in the week leading up to the final episode of “Lost.” And, of course, a trip to the series finale party also goes to the Grand Prize winner.
      Deadline for video submissions is March 21. The top five videos will be selected by the special panel, and then fans will pick the winner by casting votes from April 19-23 at ABC.com.
   The other finalists will each receive a prize pack that includes great “Lost” prizes.

Meet a trio of ‘Survivor’ contestants at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa

   Want to meet a sweet “Survivor”? How about a “Survivor” villain?
   That opportunity is available from 9 to 11 p.m. Saturday (March 6) at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa (1-44 East at Exit 240A).
   Natalie White, who won “Survivor: Samoa” will be at Hard Rock for the meet-and-greet session that will take place at The Center Bar.
   So will runner-up Russell Hantz, who is currently teamed up with the villains on “Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains” (7 p.m. Thursdays on CBS).
   And Ashley Trainer, who was the fifth person voted out of “Survivor: Samoa,” will also be on hand to meet fans.
   “These contestants are what fans of ‘Survivor’ love to see, love to like and love to hate,” said David Stewart, CEO of Cherokee Nation Entertainment. “We’re happy to have them here at Hard Rock Casino to answer some of our guests’ burning questions about the series and life after the show.”
   White, who is from Van Buren, Ark., originally tried out for “The Amazing Race,” but producers called her back to be on “Survivor.” Hantz, who lives in Dayton, Texas, built a multi-million dollar oil company from scratch. Trainer is from Maple Grove, Minn., and is a former competitive cheerleader.

   Ask them during live online chats.
   Fans can ask the cast of “Southland” questions beginning at 10 p.m. Tuesday (March 2) by logging on to www.tnt.tv or the Southland Facebook page. Scheduled to take part are stars Kevin Alejandro, Arija Bareikis, Michael Cudlitz, Shawn Hatosy, Regina King, Michael McGrady, Ben McKenzie and Tom Everett Scott.

‘Last Comic Standing’ seeks contenders for Season 7

   It’s never too late to try out for
“Last Comic Standing.” Take Grandma lee, for example.
   The 75-year-old Oklahoma City-born comic appeared on the show in 2004. She didn’t make it into the house, but she was asked back to perform on the season finale.
   So take a chance like she did and audition for Season 7 of “Last Comic Standing.” Open casting calls will be held March 6 at the Improv in Los Angeles and March 21 at the Gotham Comedy Club in New York City.
   Those selected will compete for a $250,000 cash prize and exclusive talent deal when the show premieres in summer on NBC.
   Craig Robinson is the show’s new host. He started out as a stand-up comedian and first made his mark in the comedy circuit at the 1998 Montreal “Just For Laughs” Festival. Now he plays the sarcastic Dunder-Mifflin warehouse worker Darryl Philbin on “The Office.”

ABC Family casting for ‘Huge’ scripted summer series

   Calling all aspiring plus-size actors: ABC Family
is casting for its new summer series “Huge.”
   Casting producers for the show will be in Austin, Texas, on Monday and Tuesday (March 1 and 2). The open auditions will take place from 2 to 8 p.m. at Austin Creative Alliance (701 Tillery St., Suite 8A).
   The search is for individuals to play 15-16 year olds. Actors may be older, but must be believable as mid-teens.
   “Huge,” based on author Sasha Paley’s book of the same title, is being developed by Winnie Holzman (“Wicked,” “My So-Called Life,” “Once & Again”) and daughter Savannah Dooley. The show will follow the lives of six teens and the staff at a weight-loss camp as they look beneath the surface to discover their true selves and the truth about each other.
   Casting is open to actors and non-actor/newcomers. For those who cannot attend one of the casting calls, which will also be held in Atlanta, New York, Chicago and Seattle, videos can be submitted online at www.abcfamily.com.

Stars from ‘All My Children,’ ‘One Life to Live’ and ‘General Hospital’ unite for Broadway concert March 21

   Fans of “All My Children,” “One Life to Live” and “General Hospital” might want to plan a trip to New York City next month.
   Stars from those daytime dramas will take the stage March 21 for “The 6th Annual ABC Daytime & SoapNet Salute Broadway Cares.” The one-night-only event at Broadway’s historic Town Hall will feature a night of singing, dancing and entertainment.
   Tickets for the event range from $50 to $500.
   Cameron Mathison (Ryan, “All My Children”) will host the gala concert in support of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.”
   Scheduled to appear are:
   “All My Children” stars Rebecca Budig (Greenlee), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Bobbie Eakes (Krystal), Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake), Adam Mayfield (Scott), Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie) and Susan Lucci (Erica).
   “One Life to Live” stars Scott Evans (Fish), Kassie DePaiva (Blair), Mark Lawson (Brody), Nicholas Rodriguez (Nick), Tika Sumpter (Layla), Jason Tam (Markko), Brittany Underwood (Langston) and Bree Williamson (Jessica).
   “General Hospital” stars Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Brandon Barash (Johnny), Anthony Geary (Luke), Jonathan Jackson (Lucky) and Nathan Parsons (Ethan).
    That’s not all, though. This year’s event will feature a special musical performance by Sherri Shepherd of “The View.”
