Watch Comedy Central and win a Wii (or cash)

   It’s Thanxgiveaway Wiikend on Comedy Central.
   Not only can viewers chow down on laugh-out-loud programming such as “Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special” (7 p.m. Thursday) and “Ralphie May: Austin-Tatious” (8 p.m. Friday), but everyone watching will also have a chance to win a Wii or cash or Comedy Central DVDs.
   A total of 48 prize packages will be awarded during this “Thanxgiveaway Wiikend” on Comedy Central. Of course, the best prize package contains a Wii console with the New Super Mario Bros. Or maybe the $5,000 cash is the best prize package. But the $500 or $1,000 or Comedy Central CD and DVD packs are pretty great prizes, too.
   In any case, viewers need to tune in to Comedy Central between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. (central time) Thursdays (Thanksgiving Day) through Sunday (Nov. 29). During those hours, the network will broadcast a different code approximately every hour that will give viewers a chance to win the prize packages.
   Then go to www.comedycentral.com/thanx to enter the codes to become eligible for each hour’s prize.
   So spend Thanksgiving weekend with Comedy Central. The network will try to make it worth your while.

Sprout’s Thanks-For-Giving Week gives TV time to viewers

   Want to tell everyone what you are thankful for
this season?
   That is the opportunity that the PBS Kids Sprout network is giving viewers. And although the network caters to preschoolers, there isn’t an age limit to submit a message that could appear on TV on Thanksgiving Day.
   Everyone must submit their age, name and hometown, however.
   Simply visit www.SproutOnline.com to send Thanksgiving Day thoughts that will be featured on a continuous on-air crawl on Thursday, Nov. 26.
   But that’s not all. Viewers are also invited to go online to send in notes, videos and artwork about people in their lives for whom they are thankful. And those great submissions will be featured on-air during the “Sprout’s Thanks-For-Giving Week” celebration beginning Monday, Nov. 23.
   Plus, Sprout online also has printable Thanksgiving Day projects for preschoolers to do.
   Sprout (channel 149 on Cox Digital Cable and 295 on Direct TV) is indeed a 24-hour preschool destination available on television, on demand and online for children ages 2-5 and their parents and caregivers.

“Our Little Genius” game show seeks child prodigies

   Have a little genius in your family? If so, let the producers of the new game show “Our Little Genius” know about him or her.
   The show, which is being produced by Mark Burnett (”Survivor”) and has been picked up by Fox, gives child prodigies between the ages of 6 and 12 a chance to put their knowledge to the test and win money for their families.
   To play, little geniuses must answer increasingly difficult questions as they work their way up to win their family hundreds of thousands of dollars. However, there is one catch: the little genius’ parents can stop the game at any time and choose to walk away with the winnings for their family.
   If parents decide to pull their child from the hot seat before a particular question, the little genius still has the chance to prove his or her brilliance and answer the question to determine if the parents made the right decision.

Casting calls scheduled for “She’s Got the Look” Season 3

   It’s never too late to pursuit a dream. Take TV Land’s “She’s Got the Look” series, for instance.
   For two seasons, the show has featured women ranging in age from 35 to 72 looking to break into modeling. Two of the women (the winners of each season) received a modeling contract with Wilhelmina Models Inc., a photo spread in a national magazine and a check for $100,000, while many others secured a variety of top-tier bookings.
   Next month, TV Land will launch another search for sophisticated and confident women over 35 who have the potential to transform themselves into models representing some of the most high-profile brands and highly-coveted campaigns in the fashion and beauty industry.
   Open casting calls for Season 3 of “She’s Got The Look” begin Dec. 6 in Los Angeles, with other auditions scheduled for Dec. 12 in New York City, Dec. 13 in Memphis and Dec. 15 in Columbus, Ohio. NBC looking for ‘Losing It With Jillian’ families

   Can’t make the open casting
call for “Losing It With Jillian” in Los Angeles today (Nov. 8)? Don’t sweat it — not yet, at least.
   Just make plans to attend auditions in either Dallas (Nov. 17-18), Nashville (Nov. 22), Detroit (Dec. 8-9), Chicago (Dec. 13), Boston (Jan. 12-13) or Washington D.C. (Jan. 17).
   The nationwide search is for families who want to get off the couch and get healthy with the help of “The Biggest Loser” trainer Jillian Michaels.
   And cameras will follow the families for “Losing It With Jillian,” an eight-episode series scheduled to premiere in 2010 on NBC.
   Every episode, Michaels will invade a different family’s home and give them her own characteristic brand of tough love. She will get to the bottom of the issues each family member faces — ones that affect their health and happiness — and will arm them with the tools necessary to make life-altering changes.
   The series will also feature celebrity chef Curtis Stone who will enhance Michaels’ efforts by ridding the family’s kitchen of all unhealthy foods and educating them on proper nutrition, healthy ingredients, cooking tips and recipes.

Academy and MTVU hold Oscar Correspondent Contest for college journalists

   College students studying journalism are being given the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to the Academy and mtvU.
   It’s the second annual “Oscar Correspondent Contest” and the grand prize is a spot on the red carpet and backstage press credentials for the 82nd annual Academy Awards.
   From now until Dec. 18, college students are invited to submit a 2-minute video at www.oscars.mtvu.com that showcases their broadcast journalism skills and proves why they deserve to cover the Oscars. All videos submitted must be from teams made up of one anchor and one videographer.
   The Academy and mtvU will select the top 10 videos that will be posted online at mtvU.com. Viewers can watch and vote for their favorite journalists from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10. The top three teams will be flown to Los Angeles to cover Academy Awards pre-events, including the Animated Feature Symposium, Foreign Language Film Award press event, the Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Symposium and the Governors Ball preview.
   And the grand prize-winning team, which will be revealed March 6, will cover the Oscars for MTV News and mtvU. (The other two finalist teams will receive bleacher seats along the red carpet and admission to an Oscar viewing party.)
   The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 will be presented March 7 at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center and will air live on ABC.

Disney star hosts acting workshop in Oklahoma City

   Who better to offer advice to an aspiring young actor than a seasoned actor who started young?
   Adrian R’Mante, who plays Esteban on the Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” will do just that when his Young Actors Camp stops in Oklahoma City. The workshop will be held Friday (Nov. 6) at the Hyatt Place Hotel and is sponsored by The America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization.
   R’Mante, 31, started acting when he was in the eighth grade. He has 20-plus acting credits on his resume, including guest starring roles on “CSI,” “24,” “CSI: NY,” “Alias” and “Summerland.”
   At his camps and workshops, R’Mante uses a fun and information-packed approach to teach aspring actors of all ages vital information needed to suceed in the entertainment industry.
   “I want to share my knowledge with actors so they, too, can be successful in this business and life,” he said. “Live in the moment and appreciate what you have, but work harder for what you love — performing!”
