NBC looking for ‘Losing It With Jillian’ families
Can’t make the open casting
call for “Losing It With Jillian” in Los Angeles today (Nov. 8)? Don’t sweat it — not yet, at least.
Just make plans to attend auditions in either Dallas (Nov. 17-18), Nashville (Nov. 22), Detroit (Dec. 8-9), Chicago (Dec. 13), Boston (Jan. 12-13) or Washington D.C. (Jan. 17).
The nationwide search is for families who want to get off the couch and get healthy with the help of “The Biggest Loser” trainer Jillian Michaels.
And cameras will follow the families for “Losing It With Jillian,” an eight-episode series scheduled to premiere in 2010 on NBC.
Every episode, Michaels will invade a different family’s home and give them her own characteristic brand of tough love. She will get to the bottom of the issues each family member faces — ones that affect their health and happiness — and will arm them with the tools necessary to make life-altering changes.
The series will also feature celebrity chef Curtis Stone who will enhance Michaels’ efforts by ridding the family’s kitchen of all unhealthy foods and educating them on proper nutrition, healthy ingredients, cooking tips and recipes.

Academy and MTVU hold Oscar Correspondent Contest for college journalists
College students studying journalism are being given the opportunity of a lifetime, thanks to the Academy and mtvU.
It’s the second annual “Oscar Correspondent Contest” and the grand prize is a spot on the red carpet and backstage press credentials for the 82nd annual Academy Awards.
From now until Dec. 18, college students are invited to submit a 2-minute video at www.oscars.mtvu.com that showcases their broadcast journalism skills and proves why they deserve to cover the Oscars. All videos submitted must be from teams made up of one anchor and one videographer.
The Academy and mtvU will select the top 10 videos that will be posted online at mtvU.com. Viewers can watch and vote for their favorite journalists from Jan. 20 to Feb. 10. The top three teams will be flown to Los Angeles to cover Academy Awards pre-events, including the Animated Feature Symposium, Foreign Language Film Award press event, the Makeup Artist and Hairstylist Symposium and the Governors Ball preview.
And the grand prize-winning team, which will be revealed March 6, will cover the Oscars for MTV News and mtvU. (The other two finalist teams will receive bleacher seats along the red carpet and admission to an Oscar viewing party.)

Disney star hosts acting workshop in Oklahoma City
Who better to offer advice to an aspiring young actor than a seasoned actor who started young?
Adrian R’Mante, who plays Esteban on the Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” will do just that when his Young Actors Camp stops in Oklahoma City. The workshop will be held Friday (Nov. 6) at the Hyatt Place Hotel and is sponsored by The America’s National Teenager Scholarship Organization.
R’Mante, 31, started acting when he was in the eighth grade. He has 20-plus acting credits on his resume, including guest starring roles on “CSI,” “24,” “CSI: NY,” “Alias” and “Summerland.”
At his camps and workshops, R’Mante uses a fun and information-packed approach to teach aspring actors of all ages vital information needed to suceed in the entertainment industry.
“I want to share my knowledge with actors so they, too, can be successful in this business and life,” he said. “Live in the moment and appreciate what you have, but work harder for what you love — performing!”

“The Doctors” are seeking everyone’s opinion for daytime talk show
Last month, “The Doctors” came back for a second season of medical talk on daytime TV.
Although there are plenty of health concerns to address these days, the show’s producer’s want everyone’s input on topics to talk about this season.
To make a suggestion for the show, go to www.producethedoctors.com. Lots of viewers have already submitted ideas for the show, and voting on topics that matter the most may also catch the attention of the show’s producers.
Debbie from Wichita submitted an idea for a show about varicose veins, and that segment aired a few weeks ago. Other topics being considered for upcoming episodes include alternative medicines, women’s health, parenting and suggestions for celebrity guests.
So produce an idea for “The Doctors” and/or vote on an idea for the show. Then tune in at 3 p.m. weekdays on KWTV-9 in Oklahoma City to learn about medical topics that are on a lot of people’s minds.

Sweet deal from Bravo: New ‘Top Chef: Just Desserts’ casting now
Good news from Bravo: The network has picked up a new culinary competition series titled “Top Chef: Just Desserts.” It’s a spin-off of the Emmy and James Bears Award-winning “Top Chef” series and will put pastry chefs to the test.
More good news from Bravo: Nationwide casting calls are being held for pastry chefs interested in competing on “Top Chef: Just Desserts.”
The first open call will be held Oct. 26 in Chicago. Other dates and cities include Nov. 4 in Washington D.C.and Boston, Nov. 8 in Atlanta and New York City, Nov. 11 in Dallas and Las Vegas, Nov. 15 in Los Angeles and Portland.

Spend the day with ‘Days of Our Lives’ cast members
Here’s a good reason
to plan a trip to Hollywood, especially if you are a big “Days of Our Lives” fan.
NBC is hosting a “Day of Days” on Nov. 7. That’s when fans can meet and greet members of the “Days” cast.
Several other activities are being planned for the event, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Universal Studios Hollywood’s CityWalk (1000 Universal City Plaza).

Tulsa soldier takes ‘PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge’ Sunday on Fox
Two good reasons to tune in to “PokerStars.net Million Dollar Challenge” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 18) on Fox:
(1) Oklahoma Army National Guard Sgt. 1st Class Denny Luna, who is based in Tulsa, will be playing for a chance to win $1 million. His first round opponent is 2008 Playmate of the Year Jayde Nicole.
(2) Twice during the show, viewers at home will be invited to enter an online poker tournament and play for $20,000.
So make that three good reasons to watch the new poker game show that airs right after NFL football action on Fox.
In Sunday’s installment of the 5-episode series, which premiered Oct. 11, Sgt. Luna is featured quite prominently. Nicknamed “Lunatic” by friends and fellow soldiers, Luna, wins a sizeable sum (tune in to find out just how much). And the 38-year-old, who graduated from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah and has 20-plus years in the military, is still in the running for the million.
The remaining telecasts will air Nov. 22, Dec. 13 and Dec. 27. In the finale, players will have to play back-to-back heads up matches against four-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu.
