About tonight’s “Vampire Diaries” episode:
So now we know Katherine’s (aka Katerina Petrova) history – and not surprisingly how she’s always been self-centered and ruthless.
Nina Dobrev is still making the most out of playing both Katherine and Elena.
A couple of the new characters introduced tonight were warlocks Luka (Bryton James) and his dad Jonas (Randy Goodwin).
Luka completely charmed Bonnie (Katerina Graham) – poor Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) looks to be left out in the cold again in the romance department – for now.
However, Jonas was shown to be an ally of someone very bad, so maybe Bonnie will end up in Jeremy’s arms after all.
How strong will the relationship between Rose (Lauren Cohan) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) become?
I foresee an unhappy future for Rose – and Damon might get his heart broken – a little – again.
Can Elena (Nina Dobrev) be saved from the evil Klaus?
Watching Damon and Stefan (Paul Wesley) figure out how to do it should be interesting – and the showdown between the Salvatores and Klaus looks to be stunning.
After a brief hiatus, the next new episode of “The Vampire Diaries” will air at 7 p.m. Dec. 2 on The CW.

“Gossip Girl” a favorite guilty pleasure TV show
There’s nothing much better than watching super-rich, gorgeous, young people who have everything, yet still manage to have soap opera-size problems, for an undeniable television escape.
“Gossip Girl,” in its fourth season, fits that bill perfectly.
Based on the book series by Cecily von Ziegesar and set in the Upper East Side of New York City, the main characters include Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), who is beautiful, but known for her strong inability to commit to anything for too long, especially involving relationships and what she wants to do with her life.
Her on-again, off-again best friend Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) brings new meaning to the word manipulative – the only character even coming close in that department would, of course, be her on-again, off-again love Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick).
These two have a notorious love-hate relationship and you definitely wouldn’t want to be in the way when one of them is trying to get back at the other.
Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford) has a good heart, but can never find the right girl and then there’s the brother-sister duo of Dan (Penn Badgley) and Jenny Humphrey (Taylor Momsen).
Dan and Jenny aren’t at the top of upper crust society like the rest of the main cast – their divorced dad Rufus is a former member of a rock band and is now an art gallery owner – they don’t come from an old money family.
However, Rufus is married to Serena’s mother Lily now, so there’s different worlds colliding.
And Dan wants to be a writer and Jenny has already had stops and starts in a career as a fashion designer.
Jenny and Blair have also often been at odds.
That’s all just the tip of the iceberg.
And, any rumors and/or facts, particularly scandalous ones, about these people are sent out ASAP via text messages from “Gossip Girl.”
If everyone on “Gossip Girl” only did good things, or never made mistakes or never caused trouble, they wouldn’t be the topics of all of those texts – and viewers wouldn’t get such a tantalizing break from the real world.
“Gossip Girl” airs at 8 p.m. Mondays on The CW Network.

“The Vampire Diaries”: An “original” episode

It was an action-packed episode of “The Vampire Diaries” this evening!
We found out the significance of Elena (Nina Dobrev) being a doppelganger and more background on vampires - particularly that there is a group called “the originals” – and if Elijah (Daniel Gillies) is any indication – they’re going to be colossal adversaries for Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley).
Rose (Lauren Cohan) is a compelling new character and it should be interesting to see where Caroline(Candice Accola) and Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) connection goes.
Damon and Stefan’s brotherly bond also seems to be strongly re-establishing itself.
It still looks like there’s a possible romance brewing between Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) and Bonnie (Katerina Graham) – and speaking of romance – Damon’s words to Elena before he compelled her to forget them – absolutely rapturous!
“The Vampire Diaries” airs at 7 p.m. Thursdays on The CW.

“The Vampire Diaries”: Who’s after Elena now?

From left, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley in "The Vampire Diaries." - The CW Photo by Quantrell Colbert
Nice trick Katherine (Nina Dobrev) tried using witch Lucy (Natashia Williams) to put Elena (Dobrev) under a spell in order to deter Damon (Ian Somerhalder and Stefan (Paul Wesley) from killing her – too bad Lucy was related to one of Katherine’s foes.
Is Katherine out of the picture for good now?
I bet not.
Will Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) find real romance with Bonnie (Katerina Graham – there seemed to be some sparks between them tonight – they would make an intriguing couple.
No surprise here at all about Tayler’s (Michael Trevino) fate, but I’m glad Caroline (Candice Accola) was able to keep Matt (Zach Roerig) from succeeding in his role in Katherine’s plan.
I hope Lucy stays true to her word in the show tonight and makes another appearance – Natashia Williams’ performance was a strong one.
Last, but not least, what’s the situation behind Elena being in peril again – and who’s behind it?

“The Vampire Diaries”: Damon the Heart Stealer

WOW!
Lots of developments in tonight’s episode of “The Vampire Diaries”!
First of all, we found out the main purpose of the moonstone finally, but that doesn’t seem to be why Katherine (Nina Dobrev) wants it.
Also, though it was in a booby-trapped location, it still seemed a little too easy for Elena (Dobrev) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) to find where Katherine and Mason had hidden it.
Just dangerous enough to cause some more vampire drama.
It was nice to see Caroline (Candice Accola) and her mom bonding, but I’m glad Caroline compelled her before she took her home – I didn’t trust that her mom wouldn’t spill the beans about Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan.
With Jenna (Sara Canning), Katherine chillingly showed how she’s not one to be taken lightly.
Will Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) be able to make her pay for what she did to Jenna?
Are Elena and Stefan really separated?
Why does Katherine need a werewolf?
Most interesting of all tonight however, I thought, was Damon displaying his old bad boy ways during his interrogation of Mason.
Who would’ve thought Mason (Taylor Kinney) would lose his heart to Damon?

“The Vampire Diaries”: A surprise alliance
Great development on “The Vampire Diaries” tonight involving Katherine (Nina Dobrev) and Mason (Taylor Kinney)!
Even though Stefan (Paul Wesley) tried to make a truce with Mason, I knew Mason wasn’t serious about agreeing to it.
I was surprised about him telling Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) about Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan, however.
Caroline (Candice Accola) showing who she really is to her mother in order to save Damon and Stefan was yet another step in the amazing growth her character has had since becoming a vampire.
Stefan’s plan to get stronger ended up in another passionate scene with Elena, and Damon showed a little bit of his humane side again.
I predict Tyler (Michael Trevino) will become a werewolf – but what exactly is the purpose of the moonstone?

“The Vampire Diaries”: More juicy back story and wolf puns
I enjoyed Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) wolf puns in tonight’s episode of “The Vampire Diaries,” and his faceoff with Mason (Taylor Kinney) should be the start of something exciting.
Katherine (Nina Dobrev) continues to surprise with her self-induced resistance to vervain and it was nice to be able to see in the back story part of the episode how she fell in love with Stefan (Paul Wesley).
I hope the romance between Alaric (Matt Davis) and Jenna (Sara Canning) keeps going.
It was also delightful to watch Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Katherine in a scene together – if only Elena had asked the right questions.
And Taylor (Michael Trevino) found out what triggers the werewolf curse – will he be able to avoid it?

“Vampire Diaries:” Werewolves picked up the pace tonight
Well, I’m certainly no longer disinterested in the werewolf story line on “The Vampire Diaries.”
Though still not as fascinating as the vampires, the werewolves brought some excitement tonight, especially considering the information that Elena (Nina Dobrev), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Alaric (Matt Davis) found out about them.
How long will it be before a vampire tangles with a werewolf?
Caroline’s (Candice Accola) plight is absorbing as well.
The assistance she’s getting from Stefan and the relationship they’re building is entertaining.
The choice Caroline made at the end of the episode was one that made her character very sympathetic.
Has Damon truly lost Elena’s friendship?
I seriously doubt it.
And next week, Katherine will be back – can’t wait.
“The Vampire Diaries” airs at 7 p.m. Thursdays on The CW.

“Vampire Diaries”: Vampires vs. werewolves
Is anyone else disinterested in the werewolf story line on “The Vampire Diaries?”
I realize the point is to add to the plot of the show, but I just haven’t been able to get engaged in this part of the tale.
I hope Caroline (Candice Accola) “survives” – I kind of enjoyed it when she pushed Damon.
Caroline hasn’t been one of my most favorite characters, but this new “turn” for her character has made her much more interesting.
And, the scene with Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) sitting at the top of the ferris wheel – super-romantic – which is what “The Vampire Diaries” does best.
