SYTYCD: Nigel blows up!

Nigel didn’t like the way America voted this week, keeping Mollee and Nathan safe, and told us so. He also told the audience to shut up!
In the end, Pauline Mata and Peter Sabasino were the ones to go, with Nathan looking very hangdog in the wings. Peter is the last tapper to be eliminated. Note that all three tappers went in the first three weeks. Does this foretell an end to tappers in the top 20?
Was Nigel fair or just mean? Listen to the podcast!
Update: Interview with Pauline Mata!
SYTYCD: Two down, 17 to go

Ariana Dubose and Brandon Dumlao were the first dancers to be eliminated this week by a unanimous judges’ decision. The remaining 18 are:
Ashlie and Ryan DiLello, Bianca Revels, Channing Cooke, Ellenore Scott, Jakob Karr, Karen Hauer, Kathryn McCormick, Kevin Hunte, Legacy Perez, Mollee Gray, Nathan Trasoras, Noelle Marsh, Pauline Mata, Peter Sabasino, Phillip Attmore, Russell Ferguson and Victor Smalley.

SYTYCD news: Season five in Tulsa; why Mia left; first night of dancing

So, what did you think about the first performance show and the two dancers kicked off — Brandon and Ariana? Lisa Potts and I will discuss it tomorrow on our podcast. But leave your comments here and we’ll include your say in the podcast!
Mia dished to People’s “TV Watch” that she does not have cancer, and why she is leaving. Read it here.
Finally, Season Five’s cast (left) comes to Tulsa’s BOK center on Friday. Tickets may still be available.
SYTYCD: Billy Bell drops out due to illness!
Thanks to our friends at SYTYCDism.com, we’ve heard that Fox released a statement about Bell’s departure:
Top 20 dancer Billy Bell has left SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE due to illness and will be replaced by Brandon Dumlao, 21, a Hip Hop dancer from Concord, CA. Dumlao will join the Top 20 this week as they compete on the first two-hour performance show Tuesday, Oct. 27 (7 p.m.) on FOX.
“We are disappointed that Billy cannot continue dancing in the competition on the advice of his doctor and wish him a speedy recovery,” said executive producer/judge Nigel Lythgoe. “However, we are fortunate that Brandon Dumlao has agreed to return.”
Dumlao joins previously announced finalists – Phillip Attmore, Channing Cooke, Ariana Debose, Ashleigh Di Lello, Ryan Di Lello, Russell Ferguson, Mollee Gray, Karen Hauer, Kevin Hunte, Jakob Karr, Noelle Marsh, Pauline Mata, Kathryn McCormick, Legacy Perez, Bianca Revels, Peter Sabasino, Ellenore Scott, Victor Smalley and Nathan Trasoras – as they compete to become America’s Favorite Dancer.
SYTYCD: Introducing your Top 20 & podcast

Lisa Potts and I dish about the Top 20 dancers. Don’t forget to watch Monday’s show, which profiles each dancer. The program schedule is a little weird initially: The next two weeks of SYTYCD are only on Tuesday because of the World Series. The judges will kick off two dancers at the end of each show. America won’t vote again until Nov. 10 for the results show on Nov. 11.
On the show, I mention the fantastic web site SYTYCDism.com. It does a great job of profiling the dancers and presenting SYTYCD news.

SYTYCD Top 20 spoilers!!!
Fan sites of So You Think You Can Dance are posting top 20 spoilers this week. If you want to check it out, look up SYTYCDism and Pure So You Think You Can Dance. I won’t post them here because I think it’s more enjoyable to watch the show (but I must admit I did read them.) However, check out the video below to see some of the dancers I believe did make the show.
SYTYCD is Wednesday night this week on Fox. Check your local air times, and come back to the blog for more news and this week’s podcast!
‘SYTYCD’ cast dances with ‘Ellen’!
Ellen Degeneres opened the seventh season of her daytime talk show with dancing. Not so unusual for her, she always dances with a few people on her show. What was unusual is that Ellen brought out the top 10 dancers of “So You Think You Can Dance” and did a specially choreographed number. Pretty cool, Ellen! She mentioned that she is a huge fan of the show, and that she was a guest judge on last season. Season six of “So You Think You Can Dance” premieres Wednesday on Fox. No doubt, Ellen will be watching.
