“Darla Z Live From Las Vegas” to air Saturday on KSBI

“Darla Z Live From Las Vegas,” filmed before a live audience from the strip in Las Vegas, Nev. is set to air at 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 18 on KSBI.

Singer/songwriter Darla Zuhdi, known as Darla Z, is from Oklahoma City and started her musical career opening in concert for Willie Nelson in 2005, according to a news release.

Stillwater High School graduate Zuhdi frequently performs in Las Vegas, and in the past year, Darla Z and her Las Vegas band have performed in concert in multiple fundraisers throughout Oklahoma, including events for the Oklahoma History Center, Oklahoma Prevent Blindness and the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum.

She has also performed the national anthem at many sporting events, such as professional boxing events at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City and Riverwind Casino in Norman.

The “Darla Z Live From Las Vegas” show is sponsored by Bedre Fine Chocolates and was broadcast nationally on Jan. 3, 2012 on over 218 network affiliates as well as to national cable viewers through Legacy TV Network.

Local holiday specials set to air on KSBI

 

“Home For The Holidays 2011,” a special featuring the Oklahoma City University Ann Lacy School of Dance Christmas show, which is billed as being similar to the type of show seen at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, is scheduled to air from 7 to 8:30, Tuesday, Dec. 13 on KSBI, according to a news release.

Concert pianist Wayne McEvilly of Oklahoma City is appearing in another Christmas special produced by KSBI that includes a group of small children celebrating the holiday.
The show originally aired Thanksgiving night and will be re-broadcast from 8:30 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13 on the network as well.

The “Home For The Holidays 2011″ special will re-air at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 and at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24.

KSBI’s “Oklahoma’s Heis-MEN Special” to air nationally on TUFF TV

The KSBI special “Oklahoma’s Heis-MEN” has been picked up by a national affiliate, TUFF TV, and will be broadcast to 34 million American homes, according to a news release.

“Oklahoma Heis-MEN” will air on TUFF TV in Oklahoma City at 8 p.m. Dec. 3 on KSBI 52.2, Cox Cable Channel 215, with an encore airing at 8 p.m. Dec. 10.

KSBI President and CEO Vince Orza said in the news release,” We are enormously proud of this program and the outstanding work our sports department did putting together interviews with Oklahoma’s five living Heisman recipients.  The “Oklahoma’s Heis-MEN” special is a salute to the gridiron heroes who carried the orange and black and the crimson and cream to Heisman gold.  The special featured Oklahoma greats, Billy Vessels, Steve Owens, Billy Simms, Barry Sanders, Jason White and Sam Bradford.”

KSBI-TV adding college game show to lineup, expanding high school football coverage

Oklahoma City-based KSBI-TV has added the local game show “Mind Games” to its lineup, with its debut airing at  8 p.m. on Sept. 28.

Students from two Oklahoma colleges or universities will compete in a battle of the brains each week, according to a news release.

Students will battle for $200,000 in scholarships in the game show sponsored by the Chickasaw Nation.

The competition will consist of teams from across the state competing in athletic-style brackets, with each week’s winners advancing to the next level of competition.

Teams from over 16 schools have already signed up for the games, with schools selecting their own teams and being able to enter multiple teams.

- KSBI-TV is also expanding its fall high school football coverage by partnering with Sonic Restaurants to host a high school football scoreboard with live, high definition coverage from 2-6 metro area games on Thursday and Friday evenings.

The Sonic High School Football Scoreboard will cut in to regular programming every 30 minutes from 7  to 10:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday evenings.

KSBI sports reporters Brian Birchell, Abigail Ogle and Mary-Rachel Redman will be providing live sidelines reports from area games and there will also be a live studio scoreboard of all area Thursday and Friday matchups.

- On another programming note, KSBI has announced it’s movng its locally-produced show “All About You” from 11 a.m.-noon to 10-11 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“All About You” is a talk/variety program featuring fashion, makeup, fitness, health, career planning, financial advice, sports and music, and is hosted by Kealey McIntire.

Two new outdoors sports shows featuring Oklahomans are set to debut during the upcoming weekend.

“OkieWild,” starring Bo Newsom, premieres at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, on KSBI-TV; and “Hillbilly Handfishin’,” starring Trent Jackson and Skipper Bivins, premieres at 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, on Animal Planet.

Tuff TV to premiere on KSBI’s second station March 7

 

Oklahoma City television station KSBI-TV has become an affiliate for TUFF TV, beginning Monday.

TUFF TV will be carried on KSBI’s second station, Channel 215 on Cox, according to a news release.

TUFF TV is billed in a news release as the first digital broadcast network to offer first run original programming targeted at men, featuring sports, lifestyle, drama, reality, talk, specials and movies.
