Bye, Bye ‘Beautiful Life’; The CW cancels series after two episodes
Two episodes is not enough for a series to gain a following. But not enough viewers were following “The Beautiful Life: TBL” from the start.
So after two episodes, The CW has pulled the show co-created by Ashton Kutcher (“That ’70s Show”) off its schedule.
A mere 1.5 million viewers tuned in to the Sept. 16 premiere, and only 1.05 million returned to see the second episode Sept. 23. Filling its 8 p.m. Wednesdays time period starting Sept. 30 will be encore airings of “Melrose Place.”
At first glance, it appeared life would be good for “The Beautiful Life.” The show followed a group of models living together in New York, and it followed “America’s Top Model” on the schedule. But “Top Model” viewers are down for the show’s 13th season.
There is some good news from The CW, though. “One Tree Hill,” which opened Season 7 on Sept. 14, has been given a full-season order. And nine more scripts have been ordered for “The Vampire Diaries,” which premiered Sept. 10.
