SYTYCD: Nathan and Noelle eliminated

nathanandnoelle

I won’t say I told you so (see here) but Nathan Trasoras and Noelle Marsh were sent home Wednesday night.

We’re down to the Top 8 dancers, but we only have two more weeks: The finale will have SIX dancers. Listen to the podcast, which will post soon.

Until then, enjoy this performance from LXD — the League of Extraordinary Dancers.

SYTYCD: Nigel vs. Nathan

nathan_mg_0968_lyf

OK, now this could be me, but does it seem that Nigel Lythgoe, the executive producer of “So You Think You Can Dance” is being tough on top 10 dancer Nathan Trasoras? After both dances — the Broadway and the Rhumba — Nigel didn’t seem to provide uplifting commentary, as he does for other dancers. Instead, he was cold and critical. Not that I don’t agree with the technical advice, but it’s clear that Nathan no longer is his pet project.

Instead of technical correction, someone needs to give that boy some tips on presentation. His face is a tragic playground: happy, angry, sad.

Standouts from Tuesday night: Jakob and Ellenore — the new dream team! — Russell and Mollee (though I’m no Mollee fan) and Ryan and Noelle. Tonight, one boy and one girl are eliminated. We’ll dish on the podcast Thursday. Tune in tomorrow!

BuddyTV is so obssessed with “So You Think You Can Dance” that it put the show into both its Best and Worst Shows of ’09.

Check it out for yourself, but suffice it to say, Season 6 is not on BuddyTV’s favorite list. Watch it tonight and the results show Wednesday. We’ll blog and link to our podcast Thursday.

Karen and Victor go home — another mistake?

Karen-and-Victorgone

This week’s photo says it all. In the weekly “DOH!” that is the “So You Think You Can Dance” results show, another talented pair went home. Karen Hauer and Victor Smalley were eliminated just shy of making the Top 10 dancers, which means they would go on tour after the show ends. Instead, the pair miss that opportunity.

In the bottom three this week were Karen and Victor, Ryan and Ellenore (upset!) and Nathan and Mollee (no surprise there). The judges unanimously agreed to drop Karen over Mollee, and Victor over Nathan. The season’s supposed fan favorites, Nathan and Mollee have been in the bottom three many times. Some fans suggest that they would have been the ones to go home. However, as judge Nigel Lythgoe pointed out, Karen didn’t dance for her life and may have been resigned to go home this week. Still, I would have danced my patootie off to make the top 10!

Politics? Would the tour be more successful keeping Nathan and Mollee? Perhaps. No podcast this week because of the Thanksgiving holiday, but we’ll be back next Thursday.

Zap2it posted some great backstage interviews with the judges. Take a look.

SYTYCD: Channing and Kevin eliminated

Channing&Kevin

Channing and Kevin got the boot this week, and the judges were unanimous in their decision. But many viewers on Twitter have complained the Channing should NOT have been picked to leave over Latin dancer Karen. Listen to the podcast!

SYTYCD: Nigel blows up!

eliminated_pauline-peter-bl

Nigel didn’t like the way America voted this week, keeping Mollee and Nathan safe, and told us so. He also told the audience to shut up!

In the end, Pauline Mata and Peter Sabasino were the ones to go, with Nathan looking very hangdog in the wings. Peter is the last tapper to be eliminated. Note that all three tappers went in the first three weeks. Does this foretell an end to tappers in the top 20?

Was Nigel fair or just mean? Listen to the podcast!

Update:  Interview with Pauline Mata!

She will join the dance juggernaut that has taken Broadway by storm, breaking box office records and extending its limited engagement. The show, originally announced for a 12-week engagement, has been extended through January 3, 2010.
