SYTYCD and Cat Deeley jewelry
Just a reminder that SYTYCD comes on Wednesdays (performance shows) and Thursdays (results shows).
But here’s news flash! Host Cat Deeley, who has become quite the style icon since hosting the show in 2006, has a new line of jewelry to debut on shopping channel QVC. Called Modern Vintage, the line is inspired by vintage stores from around the world. Deeley apparently loves anything vintage, especially jewelry. According to QVC, “Cat has created a line of fashion necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings especially for QVC. Influenced by generations before but modern enough to pull off with jeans and a t-shirt or a little black dress.”
One more thing on SYTYCD: Signature dance moves
Because SYTYCD brought back dancers from previous seasons to dance with the new challengers, they need to give them something to do, right?
Hence, the Signature Dance Moves. You can see the all-stars performing their signature dance moves and slowing them down so you can see how they do it.
Check it out on the official site.
Top 11 dance with ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ all-stars

The top 11 contestants perform their first Jazz routine with the All-Stars choreographed by Wade Robson on So You Think You Can Dance.
The first performance show of Season Seven’s “So You Think You Can Dance” showcased all 21 dancers — that’s right, I did say 21 — with 11 challengers and 10 “all-stars.” The all-stars appear to be favorites from previous seasons who have never won the show. I like the idea, mainly because my standing favorite dancer — Ade — is back. I love watching Ade perform. Last night’s dance, choreographed by returning judge Mia Michaels, was called Time, and featured Billy Bell as a child, Alex Wong as a man and Ade Obayomi as senior citizen. The dancing was flawless of course, because these three dancers are likely three of the best male dancers who have ever been on the show. Ade mixed elderly imbalance with grace to portray an old man who loves to dance.
So, what do you think about the show adding an 11th dancer (Billy Bell)? They already had made some hard calls on the show (cutting mature and masculine dancer Anthony, for one). Why not just stick to their plan to have 10 dancers? Speaking of Anthony, a grass-roots movement on the Fox-TV SYTYCD site is calling to vote New Yorker Anthony back on the show. So far, 50 people have left postings.
Joss Whedon-directed “Glee’ episode airs May 18
In an episode directed by Emmy Award winner Joss Whedon (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Dollhouse”), Mr. Schuester’s former high school nemesis, Bryan Ryan (guest star Neil Patrick Harris), causes trouble for the glee club. Rachel struggles with a life-long personal issue, and Artie’s dreams take him on an adventure in the all-new “Dream On” episode of “Glee” airing Tuesday, May 18 at 8 p.m. on Fox-TV. Harris and Whedon worked together, most notably, in “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog” — a web series.
Mia Michaels, Adam Shankman, back as resident judges on “So You Think You Can Dance”
Season seven of SYTYCD premieres Thursday, May 27, on FOX. Here’s more on the judges and confirmation of the change to Top 10 plus returning star dancers. Are there too many changeups from season to season? Love to hear your comments!
Here’s the latest from a Fox news release:
Emmy Award-winning choreographer Mia Michaels and director and choreographer Adam Shankman will return to “So You Think You Can Dance” as the series’ resident judges. Michaels – who has been a guest judge and choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance” since its first season – will sit alongside Shankman and Nigel Lythgoe as the new judge and draw upon her expertise to critique and praise the dancers throughout the competition.
“I am extremely happy that Mia and Adam have returned and agreed to be resident judges,” said Nigel Lythgoe, executive producer/co-creator, “So You Think You Can Dance.” “Mia’s outspoken approach combined with Adam’s passion will definitely add a fresh new chemistry to the panel.”
Hosted by Cat Deeley, “So You Think You Can Dance” returns for its seventh season Thursday, May 27. (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) with some new twists, including 10 finalists competing and only one dancer eliminated per week. Additionally, the competitors will be partnered each week with a different “So You Think You Can Dance” All-Star dancer – former SYTYCD finalists who are skilled in various styles of dance, including Ballroom, Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary. The All-Stars include Stephen “Twitch” Boss, Comfort Fedoke, Courtney Galiano, Anya Garnis, Lauren Gottlieb, Neil Haskell, Allison Holker, Mark Kanemura, Pasha Kovalev, Kathryn McCormick, Ade Obayomi and Dominic “D-trix” Sandoval.
For the new season, producers traveled across the country to Chicago, Dallas, Nashville, New York, Los Angeles and Miami in search of dancers who represent the best in America. Those who shine during auditions are given a ticket to Las Vegas for callbacks, where they work with top choreographers to learn and then be judged on multiple styles of dance.
Two-time Emmy Award-winning and three-time Emmy-nominated choreographer Mia Michaels’ credits include Cirque du Soleil’s “Delirium,” “West Side Story,” “Hello, Dolly!,” Céline Dion’s “A New Day” and “Taking Chances World Tour,” the American Music Awards, “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and working with pop superstars, including Madonna, Prince, Ricky Martin and Gloria Estefan. Michaels joined “So You Think You Can Dance” in 2005 as a guest judge and contributing choreographer. She was honored with an Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography on a Television Series in 2007 for “Calling You” and again in 2009 for “Mercy.” The Florida native was born into a family of dancers. She began studying dance at age 2 with her father and her sister, and furthered her training at the Miami Conservatory, the Miami Performing Arts Center and Michigan’s Interlochen Arts Academy.
Adam Shankman’s credits include “The 81st Academy Awards”; “The Last Song” starring Miley Cyrus; “17 Again” starring Zac Efron; “Hairspray,” the feature film adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical; and “The Wedding Planner” starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. Prior to directing, Shankman was one of the premier dance and physical comedy choreographers for film, and choreographed music videos for Whitney Houston, The B-52’s, Barry White, Aaron Neville, Chic and Stevie Wonder. A native of Los Angeles, Shankman attended The Juilliard School, and began his career as an actor and dancer in New York.
No Season 6 tour?

Our friends at SYTYCDism.com are reporting that there is no Season 6 tour in the works. They’re not saying much else, and that means STYTCD producers are being closed-mouth about it for now.
There is NO CONFIRMED report about tour or no tour.
Exec. Producer Nigel Lythgoe is quiet on twitter (@dizzyfeet), although he wants fans to vote for SYTYCD on the People’s Choice Awards web site.
Twitter friends of SYTYCD are NOT HAPPY with the news (search for SYTYCD and read for yourself), complaining about the rushed season and the disappointment for the dancers.
I don’t know if a petition is in the works. Keep checking here and at SYTYCDism.

Russell Ferguson, krumper, is America’s Favorite Dancer

“So You Think You Can Dance” fans called in and crowned Russell Ferguson winner of season 6. Jakob Karr was runner up, and two women, Ellenore and Kathryn, made the top four.
The two-hour show brought back dancers from the top 20 in season six for several performances, and four musical acts: Leona Lewis, who sang the theme to “Avatar,” Mary J. Blige; Adam Lambert and J.Lo herself, Jennifer Lopez in her titular shoes, Louboutins.
Lisa Potts and I do our usual dish, for the last time this season!

So You Think You Can Dance Finale! UPDATE — Russell wins!

Russell (center) won the show, with Jakob (far right) as the runner up.
What a show! Adam Lambert! Leona Lewis! Mary J. Blige! Jennifer Lopez!
Oh yeah, there were some dancers, too. And the winner is … RUSSELL! Jakob came in second.
Whether or not you think Russell is the best dancer, he is now crowned America’s Favorite Dancer. And as a Krumper, he makes dance show history.
He told US Weekly what he would do with this $250,000 and what his plans are.
Jakob had given amazing performances all season, and I would have been happy for him to win.
And now, I turn it over to my co-host, Lisa Potts …
“I’m a little dissappointed that Jakob didn’t win but yet … Russell was incredible all season and to have a krumper win the show is great. He is a great representative for the show. Jakob will have an amazing career without winning the show.”
I agree, Lisa. We also agree that it was wonderful for Ellenore and Kathryn made the top four. And, it was fitting that married couple Ashleigh and Ryan were eliminated one after the other, 5 and 6. But luckily AFTER we got to see them perform together with a very cool jive.
Lisa and I will dish more about the show Thursday. Check out the podcast here at NewsOK.com.

Whom did you vote for? Jakob, Russell, Ashleigh?
I admit that I voted for Ellenore 12 times. Still, that is no grand feat compared to other fans who voted hundred times and over for their favorite dancer.
Tonight, we find out who will be the winner of season six.
Your podcast co-hosts, Lisa Potts and I, will watch the show tonight at a watch party and we’ll blog about it tonight. Then, tomorrow, we’ll dish the results and the gossip on the podcast here.
I won’t be disappointed. There are some amazing and talented dancers in the finale, and I’d be happy for any of them to win.
Other SYTYCD fan sites such as Buddy TV and SYTYCDism will provide instant commentary after the show.

‘So You Think You Can Dance’: Final six

America got it right this week: Mollee and Legacy went home. I’m a Legacy fan, and I would have been just as satisfied if Ryan was eliminated. But there are so many other fine dancers, and someone had to go. Mollee, on the other hand, was way past elimination time. I agree with the judges that Broadway style really suits her, but if she stayed, she would have been in the way of another MORE talented female dancer.
So, the final six are: Russell, Jakob, Ellenore, Ashleigh, Kathryn and Ryan. I’d be happy for nearly all of them to come out on top.
Lisa Potts and I have our own opinions about who should, and will win, and we express them on today’s podcast. Take a listen.
