Oklahoman looking good on ‘The Biggest Loser’

   Daris George
looked good on Tuesday’s episode of “The Biggest Loser” (May 4 on NBC). He got a shave and a haircut for makeover week.
The 25-year-old from Ardmore, Okla., also did good to stay on Jacob’s Ladder for 2-and-a-half hours during the week’s challenge. Two of the remaining six contestants stopped climbing after a few minutes. And two more fell off before the 1-hour mark.
But trainer Bob Harper was still upset with Daris. That’s because Daris admitted that he gave up and gave the reward — a 1-pound advantage — to Koli.
It all worked out, though. And Daris got quite a work-out from Bob.
“Telling Bob that I gave up on the challenge and him pushing me harder than he ever has before gave me more inner strength and more confidence in what I can do,” said Daris, who dropped nine pounds and weighed in at 205.
Sixteen weeks ago, he weighed 346 pounds. Two episodes remain before the live finale  May 25 on NBC.
“I am finishing this, and I can win this,” Daris said. “And you’re going to see me on that podium at the finale. I’m going to do everything I can to be No. 1.”

Oklahoma cowboys in ‘The Amazing Race” finale

Brothers Jet and Cord McCoy from Tupelo are in second place heading into the Season 16 finale of “The Amazing Race” (7 p.m. Sunday, May 9, on CBS).
They finished just seconds behind the first-place team of Brent and Caite (dating models from South Carolina) on Sunday’s episode (May 2).
And they are one of just three teams still in the running for the $1 million prize. The first team to reach the final pitstop in San Francisco wins.
“I feel like we have a great shot at winning $1 million,” Cord said during the next-to-last leg of the race.
“Do we get buckles?” asked Jet, 30, who is a four-time International Professional Rodeo Association champion.
“I hope so,” said Cord, 29, who is a five-time International Professional Rodeo Association champion. “If not, I’m getting one made. I’m not kidding.”
The title of the Season 16′s final episode, which is taken from a quote made by one of the racers, is “”Huger than Huge.”
Sounds like something Jet or Cord McCoy might’ve said, doesn’t it? To find out, tune in to CBS at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 9.

Season 4 of “The Facts of Life” on DVD May 4

For those who grew up with Jo, Blair, Natalie and Tootie, it’s time for a reunion. And for those who don’t know these Eastland school girls, it’s time to check out “The Facts of Life.”
Season 4 of the NBC show that ran from 1979-88 comes out on DVD on May 4. The 4-disc set released by Shout Factory features all 24 episodes from that season, including the two-hour television special “The Facts of Life Goes to Paris.”
“The Facts of Life: The Complete Fourth Season” can be purchased from several online sites for $30 or less (the suggested retail price is $39.99).
Jo (Nancy McKeon), Blair (Lisa Whelchel), Natalie (Mindy Cohn) and Tootie (Kim Fields) are back to learn more life lessons at Eastland Academy for Girls. And Mrs. Garrett (Charlotte Rae), the school’s dietitian, is there to help in any way she can.
This collection contains perhaps the best two episodes from the show’s nine seasons — “Graduation: Part 1″ and “Graduation: Part 2.” And “Take My Finals, Please” ranks right up there with those, which should be required watching for all graduates.
Other topics the show touches on in Season 4 include abortion, hearing loss, obsession, income tax, drinking and driving and becoming  nun.
This show truly does offer viewers “The Facts of Life.”
