Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “Beyond the Blackboard” continues inspiring tradition
Hallmark Hall of Fame’s upcoming movie “Beyond the Blackboard,” based on a true story, centers on Stacey Bess’ first teaching job.
Bess (Emily VanCamp) is assigned to the School With No Name, which is just a space in a homeless shelter used as a classroom.
Without books, student desks, and other teaching essentials, Bess turns the makeshift schoolroom into a real one for the children of all ages she instructs, with the eventual assistance from school board official Dr. Warren (Treat Williams).
Bess also learns about herself and gains new perspective while changing the lives of her students and their families.
VanCamp is proficient at portraying the kindheartedness of Bess without being cloying, and Williams lends a nice hand in his supporting role.
All of the children playing the homeless students are genuine as well.
As is usual for Hallmark Hall of Fame movies, “Beyond the Blackboard” succeeds in providing inspiration to look at people in diverse situations with compassion and respect while demonstrating how much of a difference one person can make.
“Beyond the Blackboard” airs at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS.

Beyond the Blackboard—this movie sounds like it would be very good (all Hallmark movies seems to be good)–BUT with this one the sound track is moving so fast that I can not keep up with it and neither can my friends
so I am unable to watch all of the movie
Can’t you do something about the speed of the actors speech (or the sound track)

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed another Hallmark presentation! Tonight’s “Beyond the Blackboard” has resounded a similar type of teaching Special Ed students that our daughter does in New Jersey. I would love to get her either the book, or this movie or both to celebrate her being named “Teacher of the Year” at her school.
Beyond the Blackboard, what a great movie!!!! I hope many in education see this and see what can happen to homeless children and with a teacher like her can improve their lives. Hopefully it will show again for people that missed it.
Where can we watch this movie again? Local Channel weather bulletins prevented us from seeing much of it last night and we were looking forward to viewing it as a family.
Thoroughly enjoyed BEYOND THE BLACKBOARD last evening after a very busy and happy Easter celebration!!!! Hope it comes on again and available on DVD. This is what we need on TV now instead of the other “garbage”.

I would like to read the book but was unable to locate it at my local library. What is the correct title for it?
A very interesting movie that makes a teacher ask herself if you really can go on with the teaching part of her life when things are changing so fast.

Beyond the Blackboard Hallmark Movie
When it came on in April, I taped it via my DVR. For some reason, during the whole movie, it skipped and stopped and I had to restart it over and over again and then after seeing 1 hour and 45 minutes of the movie, it stopped and would not re-start. Will the movie be shown again? Is ther any way that I can see it?
“Beyond the Blackboard” is scheduled to air on the Hallmark Channel at 8 p.m. Eastern/Pacific Time, 7 p.m. Central time on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

Beyond The Blackboard sounds like a very a timely movie; I cannot wait to see it.
