‘The Biggest Loser’ not Oklahoma’s Daris

THE BIGGEST LOSER -- "Season 9 Finale" Episode 919 -- Pictured: Daris George

Daris George, Ardmore’s contender for this season’s Biggest Loser made it to the final three… but didn’t lose quite enough weight to win the title of “The Biggest Loser.”

Michael Ventrella ended up winning the big prize.

Koli Palu won the “At Home” prize of $100,000 and if America had chosen him instead of Daris, he would have been the big winner. He started out weighing 403. He weighed in at 188 for a total loss of 215 pounds or 52.55 percent. Nobody lost a higher percentage of weight than Koli.

Daris was the first of the final three to weigh in for the finale. He started out at 346 pounds and weighed in at 178– for a total weight loss of 168 pounds or 48.55 percent.

It looked like Ashley Johnston might be the big winner when she stepped on the scale. She started out at 374 and weighed in at 191 for a total loss of 183 pounds or 48.93 percent.

Then Michael stepped up. He started out at 526 pounds. He needed to lose 257 to beat Ashley and weighed in at 264 for a total loss of 262 pounds or 50.19 percent.

So, Michael won the title of “The Biggest Loser.”

Daris, we still love you and are super proud of you! You look amazing and have been an inspiration to watch.

Congratulations, Michael!

I’ll be talking with Daris tomorrow so check back for another post with a story about Daris’ journey on “The Biggest Loser.”
