Reality shows for music etc. just want the right to sell their show without giving you a royalty…not the right to keep your music !! it’s their recording of you …NOT all recordings of you or your song rights….
but it is good to be careful and ask each individual contest ect. !! any big contest knows that no one will sell their song rights anymore !!!:)

It was put on my the folks at Madison Square Garden (MSG). They took 16 street musicians, pumped us up with all kinds of ideas of how just by being on the show our lives where going to change greatly.”An opening act for a major artist, major label backing through MSG and all kinds of other artist support!”

I won the show but when it came time to collect my success, they said they were all out, “blame the recession”.

I’m a musician, songwriter, performer who won a reality show based in New York City. Apparently, New York-New York, if you can make it here you can make it anywhere… unless you’re make it on a reality show!

And yes, I’m still a Busker.

And if all they have to give up is the songs they choose to use during the compition, well that’s a great trade off. A talented songwriter can produce over 1,000 melodies or over 1,000 hits. Music is infinate and always reinvents itself. Plus, there is a cash prize, probly around $100,000 and that great deal with the largest name in the music biz. Do you know what artist are under Sony? The winner of this compitition will experience the real life rags to riches story. What have the other great songwriters in the past had to give up or sacrifice to get them closer to their dream. And is not the dream of a songwriter to realease their music that they created into the world? Music created can not be pimped out by money, and a songwriter must do what they have to do to get their music out, even to go as far as going on a reality t.v. show.
