Business International (TBI) magazine, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” is the most popular game show in the world.
TBI analyzed 2009 data from the French audience measurement company Mediametrie. Rankings were based on the number of times a show appeared in a country’s top-rated programs list, and the countries surveyed were the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Spain and Sweden.
Sony Pictures Television has licensed “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” to more than 120 territories.
Stewart Clarke, TBI magazine editor said, “The fact a show like ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ has gone off air in several countries only to return later proves it has achieved ‘classic’ status.”
