Watch Space Shuttle Atlantis launch live Nov. 16
Network News Release …
HDNet (channel 79 on Direct TV, 362 on Dish Network) will broadcast live coverage of Monday’s launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis.
Coverage begins at 1 p.m. Monday (Nov. 16), and the scheduled launch of the Atlantis
Mission STS-129 to the International Space Station is set for 1:28 p.m.
Atlantis and its crew will begin the last phase of space shuttle flights, carrying large equipment and extra stocks of supplies for the day when the shuttle is no longer making deliveries to space. Atlantis will deliver two control moment gyroscopes, equipment and EXPRESS Logistics Carrier 1 and 2-about 28,000 pounds of supplies and spare parts for International Space Station.
Also onboard is the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Communication Unit which was integrated in preparation for future flights to the orbiting laboratory. The unit allows for communication between the International Space Station, other spacecraft, and ground-based mission control. The system also allows the ISS crew to monitor an approaching or departing capsule.
Atlantis also will return station crew member Nicole Stott to Earth and is slated to be the final space shuttle crew rotation flight.

Really hurts to see the Shuttle Program die like this… even worse, NASA’s replacement for the shuttle. Really, like we really need to step back to using (for us) 1970s methods for space travel? Finally, really pissed over Obama and his negligence of NASA. Yes, there are other problems, but without the advances from NASA, America would not have many everyday items or technology if not for the scientists of the organization.
