“Saturday Night Live” celebrates the holiday season with original shows on three consecutive weekends, beginning December 5 with Blake Lively and Rihanna both taking the stage in studio 8H for the first time, according to an NBC news release.
Blake Lively currently stars in the feature film “The Private Lives of
Pippa Lee” and the hit show, “Gossip Girl,” and just finished filming
“The Town,” directed by Ben Affleck with a September 2010 release date.
Multi-platinum superstar Rihanna, who received countless awards and
nominations, recently released her highly anticipated and critically
acclaimed fourth studio album, ‘Rated R,’ with her singles, “Russian
Roulette” and “Hard” featuring Jeezy already climbing the charts.
“The Twilight Saga: New Moon” star Taylor Lautner will make his hosting
debut December 12, with musical guest the Grammy Award-winning band Bon
Jovi. “New Moon” made box office history with the biggest single
opening day. Lautner can be seen next in the romantic comedy
“Valentines Day,” due out February 2010.
Bon Jovi is returning for their fifth appearance on SNL and will be
performing songs from their latest #1 album, The Circle. Bon Jovi has
set the standard for more than two decades as one of the most successful
rock bands in the world. Globally, the Grammy Award-winning band has
sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts
in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans.
On December 19, James Franco makes his second appearance as host of SNL,
with musical guest British rock trio Muse. Franco recently completed
production on Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s “Howl” and is next set
to star alongside Danny McBride and Natalie Portman in David Gordon
Green’s “Your Highness.”
Muse released their fifth album, “The Resistance,” on September 15th
earning them their highest ever debut on the Billboard Top 200 album
chart by bowing at No. 3. The debut single from the album, “Uprising,”
is currently Number One on the Alternative Radio chart and has been for
the last 12 weeks. The band has headlined both Lollapalooza and Austin
City Limits Music Festivals and sold out New York City’s legendary
Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles. The band will tour
the United States beginning February 2010.
“Saturday Night Live” airs at 10:30 p.m. Saturday on NBC.
Karen and Victor go home — another mistake?

This week’s photo says it all. In the weekly “DOH!” that is the “So You Think You Can Dance” results show, another talented pair went home. Karen Hauer and Victor Smalley were eliminated just shy of making the Top 10 dancers, which means they would go on tour after the show ends. Instead, the pair miss that opportunity.
In the bottom three this week were Karen and Victor, Ryan and Ellenore (upset!) and Nathan and Mollee (no surprise there). The judges unanimously agreed to drop Karen over Mollee, and Victor over Nathan. The season’s supposed fan favorites, Nathan and Mollee have been in the bottom three many times. Some fans suggest that they would have been the ones to go home. However, as judge Nigel Lythgoe pointed out, Karen didn’t dance for her life and may have been resigned to go home this week. Still, I would have danced my patootie off to make the top 10!
Politics? Would the tour be more successful keeping Nathan and Mollee? Perhaps. No podcast this week because of the Thanksgiving holiday, but we’ll be back next Thursday.
Zap2it posted some great backstage interviews with the judges. Take a look.

The Weather Channel guarantees snow on Christmas Day
Dreaming of a White Christmas in Oklahoma? If Mother Nature doesn’t come through, The Weather Channel could.
With its “Guaranteed White Christmas” contest, The Weather Channel will bring the magic of snow on Christmas Day to one location — even if the local forcast is sunny and clear. And the network will also bring along cameras to broadcast live reports with meteorologist Adam Berg and the winner.
Viewers have until Dec. 6 to enter the contest at www.weather.com/whitechristmas. It will take more than entering a name and an address to win, though. It will take a short video describing why you want snow on Christmas Day.
A panel of judges from The Weather Channel will select five finalists and one grand-prize winner based on uniqueness and creativity of the video submissions. And although the finalists won’t get snow, they will get something memorable — an autographed CD by Aaron Neville, whose single “Please Don’t Forget” is included in TWC’s “Holiday Party” CD. Oh, and a $100 gift card for www.weather.com/store.
The grand-prize winner will be announced on or around Dec. 9.
