‘Law & Order’ actress S. Epatha Merkerson is 2009 Christmas Seal chairperson
S. Epatha Merkerson is an
Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award winner (for 2005′s “Lackawanna Blues”). She is the longest-running cast member on “Law & Order” (joined the series as Lt. Anita Van Buren in 1993).
And She is the 2009 Christmas Seal chairperson for the American Lung Association’s fundraising campaign.
She is a passionate advocate for lung heath, having been a smoker for 23 years and an ex-smoker for 15 years.
“The mission of the American Lung Association is very important to me, and I’m happy to help raise awareness of the vital work they do by lending my support to the Christmas Seals Campaign,” Merkerson said.
So look for the decorative Christmas Seal stamps, which will be mailed to more than 11 million households starting this month. Use them to decorate holiday cards and packages. And consider making a donation to the nation’s oldest direct-mail fundraising campaign, which began in 1907 to combat tuberculosis. Today, the Lung Association fights new battles against influenza, asthma, tobacco use, lung cancer and air pollution.

I think the post is great, I am a smoker and I plan to quit, seeing that Ms. Merkerson also was a smoker and quit gives me more inspiration to quit. Could you tell me if she is leaving Law and Order, if she is, I’m afraid I am going to have to stop looking at it because she is a great actress and helps make the show.
I would like to know if epatha merkerson is leaving the law and order show stop beating around the bush and just tell us if she going to be dying off in the this 20th season
You can say I am one of many fans of epatha merkerson, she put her heart and soul into whatever role she has so at this point I would like to know if the 21st season is her last and if so what type of tv or plays she is into next whatever happens I wish u the best
Yes, let us know if ms.merkerson is leaving, the last show showed her to be very frail, i am really sorry for her, but also wish her well
I AM A FAN OF S. EPATHA MERKERSON. WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TELL HER MANY FANS JUST WHAT IS GOING ON. I CAN PRAY FOR HER IF SHE IS ILL. THAT’S THE LEAST I CAN DO FOR HER GREAT PERFORMANCES OVER THE YEARS.
I am glad to hear that Ms. Merkerson is the 2009 Christmas Seal Chairperson. I smoked for 30 years and stopped smoking 7 years ago. So, I love to hear about long term non-smokers. As usual, she looks fantastic. Please keep up the great work!!
