Sean Algaier talks about ‘The Biggest Loser’
Sean Algaier from Glenpool is not
“The Biggest Loser” on the NBC weight-loss competition show. But he made the most of his three weeks on the ranch with trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper and the other 15 contenders for Season 8.
He even watched part of Tuesday’s episode, in which he and teammate Antoine Dove were eliminated, while on the phone with Tracey Yukich, who had a hand in sending them home.
“I said, ‘Tracey, you’re crazy, but I love you so much,’” Sean said of that conversation. “I want the best for her and I want her to have a successful weight loss.”
Sean, 30, is certainly having success. He lost 39 pounds while on the show and is now 150 pounds lighter than his starting weight of 444. He no longer drinks sodas and runs seven or so miles every day. He is even training for a marathon.
“A lot has changed since this started,” said Sean, a youth pastor at Jenks Church. “I really stress to my kids that being healthy is super important.
“I said from the beginning that I don’t care about the money or winning the show. I want my life back, and ‘The Biggest Loser’ gave me my life back. Everybody is doing so well, and I’m so proud of everybody.”
By the way, Sean and his wife are expecting their third child any day now, and they plan to name the baby girl Jillian.
“The name Jillian is beautiful, for sure, and it’s one of those things where we really wanted to mark this place in our life that was significant,” Sean said. “Jillian (Michaels) is an awesome person and did amazing things for us.”

“Should that mix be 50% or 60%? We should always remain fundamentally a meritocracy,” he said. “That’s been a great strength of American educational institutions. I’m proof of that. If the student body becomes more international that’s because that’s what the best students in the world look like. It’s not like we have targets.”
