Oklahomans selected for Season 8 of ‘Biggest Loser’

sean  Thousands tried out for Season 8 of “The Biggest Loser,” which premieres Sept. 15 on NBC. Only 16 were selected. And two of the contenders are from Oklahoma.
Sean Algaier, a youth pastor from Tulsa, and Danny Cahill, a land surveyor/musician from Broken Arrow, were picked for the show’s new season, which features eight men and eight women with no ties to each other. Well, they do have one thing in common.
“We’re going back to singles and contemplating doing something really unique,” executive producer J.D. Roth told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.  ”We’re going to study fattest cities in America, we’re going to try to cast in those cities and add things into those cities to help them change their ways and to get off that list.”
danny This season also features a special theme of “second chances.”
Algaier, 29, was adopted when he was 4. And when he was in middle school and high school, his parents used exercise equipment as punishment for getting bad grades or not doing chores.
“I  grew up with a seriously healthy fear of getting in the gym,” he said. “Other people who have dealt with this need to know that there is a massive light at the end of that tunnel. You can overcome that fear and get healthy again.”
Cahill, 39, started becoming overweight at 7. His daughter started getting a little chubby around age 6.
“She came into the living room one day and stuck her belly out and said ‘I’ve got a big belly just like dad. I want to be just like dad.’ That hurt,” he said. “It really showed me what kind of example I’m setting for my children. That’s why I’m here. I want my actions to speak louder than my words.”
Also getting a second chance on the show is last season’s heaviest contestant, Daniel Wright. He returns to finish the weight loss journey he started in Season 7, going from 454 pounds to 312 pounds.
And hopefully he’ll help inspire new contestant Shay Sorrells, a social worker from Newport Beach, CA, who has taken his place as the heaviest contestant in “Biggest Loser” history.
Trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels are also back to help these 16 contestants get their second chances at a new lease on life.
The $250,000 grand prize is an extra bonus.
