Want to dare to the Jonas Brothers
to do something during the Teen Choice 2009 Awards? Want to be there to see the event live?
Go to www.myspace.com/teenchoiceawards for a chance to do both. But hurry, submission deadline for both contests ends Monday.
To challenge the Jonas Brothers to a dare, submit a 15-second video with an original idea. If selected, the dare will be completed by the group or individually by Kevin, Joe or Nick during the “Teen Choice 2009,” which the Jonas Brothers will host live at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 on Fox.
For a chance to win a trip for four to the awards show — and the opportunity to be on the Red Carpet before the show — submit an essay (150 words or less) stating (1) why you should be on the Red Carpet and (2) who you would want to photograph and why.
So get those video camera rolling and fingers typing for a chance to dare and be there.

Sounds strange, but some of your favorite dancers will help couch potatoes get off their duffs and move. Joshua, winner of last season, is NOT one of the dancers. But Katee and Twitch are. From the official Web site:

Your Favorite Dancers from the Hit Series Show You How to Get Fit and Have Fun
You’ve seen exactly what they can do on the wildly popular show “So You Think You Can Dance.” Now six of the hottest dancers from past seasons will show viewers how to get in top shape with the release of two brand new fitness DVDs on July 21: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE GET FIT: Tone and Groove and SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE GET FIT: Cardio Funk.
With nearly 20 million viewers each week “So You Think You Can Dance” is a pop culture sensation entering into its fifth season on air. For the first time ever, fans can tone and sculpt their bodies by moving along with the incredible dancers from the show as they demonstrate easy-to-follow routines in a variety of genres.
In “Tone and Groove” viewers can flex and condition their muscles with Stephen “Twitch” Boss as he takes them through a Hip Hop routine, tighten their abs with Dmitry Chaplin through the Cha Cha and then stretch it out with Katee Shean doing jazz. “Cardio Funk” turns up the heat as Courtney Galiano puts viewers through their paces on the disco floor, Travis Wall gets hearts pumping in a contemporary routine and Lauren Gottlieb’s Hip Hop dance works up a sweat.

This week, with two weeks to go until the finale of “So You Think You Can Dance,” we saw Janette and Jason go home.
Say it ain’t so! Methinks America got it wrong.
Twitter (#sytycd) also is abuzz with upset fans over the Janette-Jason loss. Poor Evan, who made it through, also is getting hit with firebombs.
Listen to my podcast with studio guest Lisa Potts here.
More this week: Katie Holmes. She’s an actress, not a dancer and a singer. That’s true, and it’s also true that she danced and sang for charity on Thursday’s show. So is it fair that much of the Twitterverse is slamming her performance? Nigel Lythgoe said on Twitter: “I’m trying to figure out why Katie is being judged as a dancer. When a star throws out the opening pitch no-one says “ooh crap pitcher!”
Nigel, you are right, and we should applaud anyone willing to perform for charity.
But here’s the rub — her performance had been hyped not only several weeks on the show but also on Twitter by judges. By the time the show came, I believe fans were almost ready for the second coming. What we saw was an actress who gave an entertaining segment, but which backfired because of the hype. Next time, lower the thermostat on the hype.
BTW, Nigel Lythgoe asked twitter fans which dances they would like to see brought back. Here are two of my favorites from Season 5:
Katee and Twitch, “Mercy”
Katee and Joshua, “No Air”

CMT is searching for the next country music star. It could result in a meeting with country music star Reba McEntire and more. Much more.
The “CMT Music City Madness 2009 Video Contest” gives participants the opportunity to produce their own music video featuring their original musical composition. Fans will narrow the field in an online battle of the bands. And one lucky singer-songwriter will win a trip to Nashville to record CMT Studio 330 Sessions, a private showcase with A&R executives at Valory Music and a backstage pass to one of Reba’s concerts.
To take advantage of the online talent search, go to www.madness.CMT.com and submit an original video performance by Oct. 5. On Oct. 20, CMT.com will reveal the 64 finalists who will compete in a single-elimination, tournament-style contest that is decided by online voting by fans. The grand prize winner will be announced in December.
Reba even has some advice for this season’s Music City Madness entrants. Via CMT.com blogs, she will offer up tips on how to create a music video, how to write hit songs and how to build a music career. In addition, country music stars Jewel, Jack Ingram, Justin Moore and Jimmy Wayne will offer support to contestants throughout the competition.
This is CMT.com’s fourth annual talent search contest. Last year, more than 22 million votes were cast to name 33-year-old Atlanta resident Kurt Thomas the winner for his self-penned song, “Follow Your Lead.”
