Chris Paul grants wish on ‘SportsCenter’
Oklahomans got to see Chris Paul play live when the New Orleans Hornets were in Oklahoma City.
Oregon native Cole Johanson got to meet the NBA star last month. It was the 10-year-old cancer patient’s wish, and ESPN SportsCenter teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and The Walt Disney Company to make it happen.
Johanson’s wish, which included a trip to Winston-Salem, N.C. (Paul’s home town), shooting hoops at West Forsyth High School (Paul’s alma mater) and lunch at Olive Garden (Johanson’s favorite restaurant), will
be featured during Wednesday’s 9 a.m. broadcast of “SportsCenter” on ESPN.
“It’s amazing how cancer was the worst thing that ever happened to me, but the day I met Chris Paul was the best day of my life,” said Johanson, who has Burkitt’s lymphoma.
The 2009 edition of the “SportsCenter: My Wish” series granted the wishes of five children with life-threatening medical conditions. Thursday’s final installment features six-year-old Matthew Vojack from Illinois meeting David Wright of the New York Mets.

I do not normally write people or familiy’s concerning TV, Newspaper or other Media stories. I believe most of these postings are self-serving. I am writing to you because my son was also diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. The story may not be as “cool’ as meeting Chris Paul BUT I can promise you Daniel’s story will be more encouraging than Mr. Paul’s words, autographed balls, autographed shoes, ESPN’s cameras or any other media attention you will receive.
