NBC launches ‘Stand-Up for Diversity’ campaign for comics
Funny people with diverse backgrounds are in demand at NBC. That is why the network is auditioning and showcasing comics across the country through November.
Four stops have already been announced for NBC Universal’s sixth annual “Stand-Up for Diversity” campaign. Open calls are scheduled for June 28-29 in Miami, Fla. (Miami Improv), July 12-13 in San Diego (The Comedy Palace), Aug. 11-12 in Atlanta (The Punchline) and November in New York City (date and site to be announced soon).
Stops for the nationwide college tour will be announced later.
Finalists from all stops will be selected for the “Best of ‘Stand-Up for Diversity’” showcase to be held in Los Angeles in fall. And the hottest rising diverse stand-up comic will be awarded a talent holding deal with NBC Universal.
Prospective participants and audiences can check for details on open calls and showcases online at www.standupnbc.com or www.diversecitynbc.com.
