Foreign exchange opportunity for Oklahoma family (and memories of my experiences abroad)
I was a foreign exchange student. Twice.
I spent the summer of 1979 on the tiny island of Fano in Denmark. The next summer, I spent 10 weeks on a pig farm in Klein Sehlingen, West Germany (”klein” translates to “tiny”).
I love learning new languages, and I loved my European experiences. For years, my German “mother” wrote me letters — all in German. My Danish “sister” Susanna even came to Oklahoma for a visit a few years back.
That is why I recommend that some Oklahoma family take advantage of an opportunity being offered by the British production company Twenty Twenty Television. Producers for the show “World’s Strictest Parents” are searching for an Oklahoma farming family (with children between the ages of 14 and 16) willing to accommodate two British teenagers for one week in July.
The British teens will be expected to attend church and help with household chores. They will not be guests in the house, but new members of the family.
Those interested are asked to email a brief description of their family and contact information to sarahrubin@twentytwenty.tv.
