Oklahoma actor goes from daytime to primetime

GHOST WHISPERER   Thad Luckinbill is a soap star. The Oklahoma-born actor has been playing J.T. Hellstrom for 10 years on the CBS daytime drama “The Young and the Restless.”
On Friday, he will play a soap star on “Ghost Whisperer.” In the episode “Stage Fright” airing at 7 p.m. on CBS, Luckinbill plays one of the actors doing a remote soap opera shoot in Grandview, which is turning the town upside down. And during the shoot, Melinda (series star Jennifer Love Hewitt) unearths a story as soapy as the show it’s disrupting.
“Working with Jennifer was great. She’s really sweet,” Luckinbill said during a recent phone interview. “And I still don’t know how it happened, but Amelia plays one of the people who has ties to the area.”
Amelia Heinle is Luckinbill’s wife on “The Young and the Restless.” She is also his wife in real life.
Luckinbill, who grew up in Enid, is also close to another soap star — Brian Presley, who played Jack Ramsay on “Port Charles” and “General Hospital.”
They moved out to Los Angeles together in 1998 to pursue acting. And they will both appear in the upcoming movie “Once Fallen,” now in post-production.
