“The Amazing Race” trip to Romania, but Nadia is not there

The Amazing Race Christie and Jodi   On Sunday’s episode of “The Amazing Race,” teams traveled to Romania to access their “inner Nadia.”
If they wanted to meet Nadia Comaneci, however, the destination would have been Oklahoma. The former Romanian gymnast, who scored the first “Perfect 10″ in Olympic history, lives in Norman now.
Not far from Norman is Choctaw, where Christie Volkmer lives and commutes to Houston as a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines. She made the trip to Romania with Jodi Wincheski of Houston, and they finished the third leg of “The Amazing Race” in sixth place.
The previous two weeks, they avoided elimination by finishing just ahead of the last place teams. This week, however, departure times for plane and train rides helped them catch up with the rest of the pack.
The flight attendants were in seventh place when they arrived at the Complexul Sportiv National in Bucharest, Romania. Volkmer passed the road block challenge to Wincheski, whose routines on the beam, bars and floor exercise improved their standing to fourth place. They arrived at the detour in second place but fell behind a bit during the “vampire remains” challenge at Bran Castle.
Next week’s episode (March 8 on CBS) is titled “It Was Like a Caravan of Idiots” and will take the eight remaining teams to Siberia.

I love your program. It’s a mixture of competition and fun in unusual places doing often unusual things and there isn’t a lot of back biting or pettiness. It’s fun.
