New “Newlywed Game” open to “Goldyweds,” as well

newlywedgamelogo.jpg   Thanks to GSN (the Game Show Network), “The Newlywed Game” streak will continue.
The game show, which debuted in July 1966 on ABC, has aired with new episodes in every decade since it premiered except this one. It’s taken nine years, but a new version of “The Newlywed Game” is coming to GSN.
The network has picked up 40 episodes of the show that will feature a new twist. Not only are newlyweds (married under two years) eligible to compete, but so are “Goldyweds” (couples who appeared on “The Newlywed  Game” in the 1960s, ’70s, ’80s and ’90s).
Those who would like to become a contestant on “The Newlywed Game,” which is being produced by Embassy Row (”Who Wants to Be a Millionaire), go to www.embassyrow.com to apply and for more details.
Host Bob Eubanks coined the popular catchphrase “making whoopee” during the show’s original run. His replacement has not yet been named for the new version being filmed in New York City.
Who do you think it should be? Drew Carey? No, he’s got his hands full following in Bob Barker’s footsteps. How about Rosie O’Donnell? She was a finalist for “The Price is Right” job and would make a great game show host.

Editor’s Note (added Feb. 4, 2009): Carnie Wilson (”Gone Country”) has been named host for the new modernized version of “The Newlywed Game.” It will be her first gig as a game show host, although she did have her own syndicated talk show, “Carnie!” that aired from 1995-96.

great blog thanks for sharing,

My wife Marion and I were contestants on a Saturday night Newlywed Show back in April of 1968. We would like consideration to be “Goldyweds” on the current show. Thanks!
