“A Miser Brothers’ Christmas” up for award

A Miser Brothers’ Christmas   ABC Family’s first original animated special hasn’t even aired yet, but it is already a contender for a coveted Annie Award.
“A Miser Brothers’ Christmas” will premiere at 7 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) on ABC Family. It is based on the characters Heat Miser and Snow Miser that originally appeared in the Rankin-Bass Christmas classic “The Year Without a Santa Claus.”
And it is up for an Annie Award for best animated television production produced for children. The Annie Awards honor overall excellence in animation, and the winners will be announced at the 36th annual event Jan. 30 in Los Angeles.
Helping make “A Miser Brothers’ Christmas” even more memorable is Mickey Rooney, who returns as the voice of Santa Claus. George S. Irving is also back as the voice of Heat Miser, who joins forces with his brother Snow Miser to help save Christmas when Santa throws out his back.
