Want to be in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?

Kristin Chenoweth   Broken Arrow native Kristin Chenoweth will be riding down Broadway atop a moving stage during the 82nd annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.   So will Trace Adkins, David Archuleta, Miley Cyrus and many more celebrities, who will be joined by 10 marching bands, 13 giant balloons, 28 floats, more than 1,700 cheerleaders, dancers and singers and the one-and-only Santa Claus.
It’s too late to try out for this year’s event, which will air live beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday on CBS and at 8 a.m. on NBC. But organizers of the parade are currently accepting applications for the 2009 and 2010 parades.
Go to www.macys.com to download a performance group application for choirs, dance troupes, cheerleaders and more. Deadline for submissions is April 1.
Marching bands have already been selected for 2009, but application forms are available for the 2010 parade.
Chenoweth, who graduated from Oklahoma City University, won a Tony for Broadway’s You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and earned an Emmy nomination for ABC’s “Pushing Daisies,” is also scheduled to perform during the “Christmas in Washington.” The holiday concert, which will air Dec. 17 on TNT, will again be hosted by Vinita-born Dr. Phil McGraw and his wife, Robin.
