The people have spoken. Carrie Underwood is a People’s Choice nominee in three categories.
The Checotah native, who won Season 4 of “American Idol,” is up for favorite female singer (against Alicia Keys and Rihanna), favorite country song (”Last Name”) and favorite star 35 and under.
Rascal Flatts, featuring guitarist Joe Don Rooney from Picher, earned two nominations: favorite group (up against Coldplay and Maroon 5) and favorite country song (”Take Me There”).
Brad Pitt, who was born in Shawnee, is a nominee for favorite leading man. Holly Hunter, who plays Oklahoma City police detective, is in the running for favorite TV drama diva.
Members of People’s Choice helped determine the nominees for the 2009 event by casting ballots last month. The top three selections in each category became the final nominees.
Now, everyone is invited to vote for their favorites in 16 movie, 10 TV and 10 music categories. Go to www.pcaVOTE.com between now and Dec. 7 to cast your ballot.
Winners will be revealed during “The 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards” airing live Jan. 7 on CBS. Queen Latifah will host the event.
