TV Talk: Oct. 5-11

tv-oct-5-11.jpgThe Oklahoman’s TV Talk personalities Penny Soldan and Heather Warlick tape a weekly video for Newsok.tv that highlights upcoming TV programs worth watching.
They’re not fast talkers, but just in case you didn’t catch all the information for a show of interest, here is their script for the week of Oct. 5:

P: Hi, I’m Penny Soldan, this is Heather Warlick and this is TV Talk, The Oklahoman’s weekly countdown of the Top 10 progams worth watching — or at least setting the DVR or VCR for.
H: Starting off at No. 10 are 10 shows with well-known guest stars. “Chuck” at 7 p.m. Monday on NBC features John Larroquette from “Night Court.” “CSI: Miami” at 9 p.m. Monday on CBS features Gail O’Grady from “American Dreams.”
P: On Wedneday, look for Luke Perry on “Criminal Minds” at 8 p.m. on CBS, recording artist Nelly on “CSI: NY” at 9 p.m. on CBS and recording artist Kenny G on “Dirty Sexy Money” at 9:01 p.m. on ABC.
H: Thursdays guest star lineup includes Jenna Elfman on “My Name Is Earl” at 7 p.m. on NBC, Mark Consuelos on “Ugly Betty” at 7 p.m. on ABC and Amy Ryan on “The Office” at 8 p.m. on NBC.
P: And familiar faces on Friday’s CBS shows are Rachael Leigh Cook on “Ghost Whisperer” at 7 p.m. and Keith Carradine, who played Will Rogers on Broadway, guest stars on “NUMB3RS” at 9 p.m.
H: No. 9 in our countdown are “The First Annual Worldwide Fido Awards” at 7 p.m. Sunday on Nickelodeon and “The Fifth Annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors” at 9 p.m. Monday on VH1. Tracy Morgan hosts the hip-hop event while Fred Willard introduces the fidos.
P: “The Starter Wife” at 8 p.m. Friday on USA Network is No. 8. Debra Messing from “Will & Grace” stars in the 10-episode series that aired as a 6-hour miniseries last season.
H: Two shows that capture incredible events on video tie for No. 7. There’s the 19th season premiere of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at 6 p.m. Sunday on ABC. And at 7 p.m. Friday, the Travel Channel’s “Most Haunted” team will have their night vision cameras rolling during the seven-hour live broadcast “Most Haunted: Gettysburg.”
P: My Network TV, which airs on KAUT Channel 43 in Oklahoma City, has three shows in the No. 6 spot. At 8 p.m. Monday is “Magic’s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed.” And on Wednesday is “The Tony Rock Project” at 7 p.m. and “World’s Funniest Moments” at 8 p.m. Arsenio Hall will introduce the funniest moments and Chris Rock’s younger brother, Tony, will host his show.
H: No. 5 is “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” which returns for its ninth season at 8 p.m. Thursday on CBS. Jorja Fox will reprise her role as Sara Sidle.
P: The CW, which airs on KOCB Channel 34 in Oklahoma City, has three new Sunday shows in the No. 4 spot. At 6 p.m. is a reality series titled “In Harm’s Way.” At 7 p.m. is “Valentine,” a new romantic comedy starring Autumn Reeser. And at 8 p.m. is “Easy Money,” a new drama starring Laurie Metcalf and Judge Reinghold.
H: The top three picks are American adaptations of successful foreign shows. There’s “Life on Mars” premiering at 9:01 p.m. Thursday on ABC. It is based on a popular British series and stars Jason O’Mara as a New York police detective who’s injured in an accident and wakes up in 1973.
P: No. 2 is “Eleventh Hour” premiering at 9 p.m. Thursday on CBS. Patrick Stewart played the special science advisor to the FBI in the British version, and Rufus Sewell takes over the role for the U.S. series.
H: And No. 1, if you don’t count the Oklahoma Sooners college football game against Texas airing live at 11 a.m. Saturday on ABC, is “Kath & Kim.”
P: “Kath & Kim,” which is featured on the Sunday Oklahoman’s TV Week cover, premieres at 7:30 p.m. Thursday on NBC. Molly Shannon and Selma Blair play the mother and daughter in the American adaptation of the Australian hit comedy series. Kath is a 40-something divorcee, and Kim is her self-absorbed daughter, who moves back home after a failed marriage.
H: That’s a wrap for this week. For even more TV choices, consult TV Week in Sunday’s Oklahoman or go online to newok.com/ae. For TV Talk, I’m Heather, this is Penny, thanks for your time.
