TV Talk: Sept. 28-Oct. 4

tv-sept-28-oct-4-copy.jpgThe Oklahoman’s TV Talk personalities Penny Soldan and Heather Warlick tape a weekly video for Newsok.tv that highlights upcoming TV programs worth watching.
They’re not fast talkers, but just in case you didn’t catch all the information for a show of interest, here is their script for the week of Sept. 28:

P: Hi, I’m Penny Soldan, this is Heather Warlick and this is TV Talk, The Oklahoman’s weekly countdown of the Top 10 progams worth watching — or at least setting the DVR or VCR for.
H: Coming in at No. 10 is “Paris Hilton’s My New BFF” premiering at 9 p.m. Tuesday on MTV. Paris handpicked 16 girls and guys for this new series. They will compete in tests of loyalty, endurance and compatibility to become Paris’ new best friend.
P: No. 9 is the ABC special “Half Their Size: The People Magazine Weight Loss Challenge.” It airs at 9 p.m. Tuesday and focuses on eight people from Mississippi, the nation’s most overweight state, during a nine-month commitment to change their lifestyles.
H: No. 8 is a tie between two shows with big changes heading into the new season. At 8 p.m. Sunday on ABC, “Desperate Housewives” begins its fifth season five years in the future. And “Everybody Hates Chris” returns at 7 p.m. Friday on The CW with Chris starting high school in Season 4.
P: Tying for No. 7 are two shows with Oklahoma connections. Kristin Chenoweth from Broken Arrow and Lee Pace from Chickasha are back for the second season of “Pushing Daisies” at 7 p.m. Wednesday on ABC. And beginning its fourth season at 9 p.m. Sunday on CBS is “The Unit” starring Dennis Haysbert. He is the brother-in-law of Langston University President JoAnn Haysbert.
H: No. 6 is “WWE Friday Night SmackDown” at 7 p.m. on My Network TV. The World Wrestling Entertainment series was on The CW previously, but it moves to a new network to begin its 10th season.
P: Tying for No. 5 are two shows beginning new seasons with new castmembers. Lucy Liu from “Charlie’s Angels” joins the cast of “Dirty Sexy Money” at 9 p.m. Wednesday on ABC. And Jimmy Smits from “Cane” has been added to “Dexter” at 8p.m. Sunday on Showtime.
H: The Fox Sunday primetime lineup comes in at No. 4.  There’s the 20th-season premiere of “The Simpsons” at 7 p.m., the 250th episode of “King of the Hill” at 7:30, “Family Guy” at 8 p.m. and “American Dad” at 8:30.
P: No. 3 is “The Amazing Race” at 7 p.m. Sunday on CBS. Host Phil Keoghan will welcome 11 new teams to the 13th edition of the race, which last week won its sixth consecutive Emmy Award for outstanding reality-competition program.
H: No. 2 is “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” at 8 p.m. on Cartoon Network. This new weekly series from Lucasfilm Animation chronicles the adventures of Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and other favorite “Star Wars” characters as they struggle against the dark side.
P: And No. 1, if you don’t count the Oklahoma Sooners college football game against Baylor airing live at 11:30 a.m. Saturday on FSNSW, is “The Ex List.”
H: “The Ex List,” which is featured on the cover Sunday Oklahoman’s TV Week, premieres at 8 p.m. Friday on CBS. The new comedy stars Elizabeth Reaser as a young woman who learns from a psychic that she’s already dated the man she’s destined to marry. But she has to reconnect with him within a year or else she’ll remain single forever.
P: That’s a wrap for this week. For even more TV choices, consult TV Week in Sunday’s Oklahoman or go online to newok.com/tv. Thanks for your time.
