“Friday Night Lights’ fans need DirectTV
Fans of “Friday Night Lights” need to consider getting DirectTV, or at least befriend somebody who subscribes to that satellite provider.
Because only viewers with DirectTV will get to see the “Friday Night Lights” third-season season premiere Oct. 1. Everybody else will have to wait until the show returns to NBC in 2009 some time after the Super Bowl.
But the premiere is not all that will be missed. In addition to DirectTV’s entertainment channel “The 101″ airing the 13-episode season commercial free and in HD at 8 p.m. Wednesdays, a companion series called “Live From Dillon” will air following “Friday Night Lights” starting Oct. 15.
“Live From Dillon” will feature different cast members each week, and they will discuss their characters, plot lines and take live viewer questions. The Taylor Family (Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton and Aimee Teegarden) are scheduled to appear on the first episode.
Season 3 of “Friday Night Lights,” which won the 2007 Emmy Award for outstanding casting for a drama series, will follow:
◊Coach Taylor (Kyle Chandler, pictured in NBC Photo above) as he copes with an uncertain team after the graduation of star running back Smash Williams (Gaius Charles)
◊Tami Taylor (Connie Britton) as she adjusts to her role as the new Dillon High School principal and how her new duties affect the Taylor family
◊Tyra (Adrianne Palicki), Lyla (Minka Kelly) and Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) as they enter senior year and deal with the pressures of high school romance
