Tulsa administrator in truTV’s “Principal’s Office”

omalley4.JPG   Finally, a good reason to be sent to “The Principal’s Office.”
Tulsa East Central High School principal Tom O’Malley is one of the school administators featured in the new truTV series “The Principal’s Office” premiering at 8 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 21). He does not appear in the first two episodes, which air back-to-back, but look for him in one of the final six installments of the series.
“The Principal’s Office” gives viewers a ringside seat to the daily drama and outrageous excuses that school administators face. And there must be some doozies, because the truTV press release claims “viewers will cringe right along with the students as they witness the various situations these deans of discipline handle on a daily basis.”
Each half-hour episode introduces principals, their unique governing styles and their schools. And each time, several disciplinary issues unfold before the cameras.
The premiere episode, “Three Licks,” gets its title from the disciplinary choices offered by a principal in Arkansas: Saturday detenion or three licks from a paddle.
O’Malley (pictured in truTV Photo above) prefers for troublemakers to take responsibility for their actions. He cares deeply for his students, but he can be extremely tough on those who perform poorly out of sheer laziness.
