Program Planner: June 8-14

circus.jpg   Sunday’s Oklahoman, which includes TV Week, hits the newsstands in the Oklahoma City area on Saturday afternoon. And it arrives at the doorstep (or hopefully nearby) early Sunday morning.
   But for those who can’t wait to begin planning the upcoming week around the best TV has to offer, here is a sneak peek at programs worth watching the week of June 8:

SUNDAY
“Army Wives” (9 p.m. on Lifetime): Second-season premiere.
“Backwoods” (8 p.m. on SPIKE): New movie starring Haylie Duff (“7th Heaven”) and Oklahoma actor Ryan Merriman (“The Colt”) as colleagues who set out for a fun company retreat in the remote woods, only to find themselves hunted.
“The Circuit” (7 p.m. on ABC Family): New movie starring Michelle Trachtenberg (‘‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer”) as a young stock-car racer whose career is on the upswing as her father’s (Billy Campbell, ‘‘The 4400”) declines.
“Design Star” (8 p.m. on HGTV): Third-season premiere.
“HGTV Green Home Giveaway 2008″ (7 p.m. on HGTV): Carter Oosterhouse (“Trading Spaces”) announces the winner.
“Ice Road Truckers” (8 p.m. on History): Second-season premiere.
“Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (8 p.m. on USA): Seventh season resumes with new episodes.
“Million Dollar Password” (7 p.m. on CBS): Celebrity contestants are Rosie O’Donnell (“The View”) and skateboarder Tony Hawk.
“Untamed and Uncut” (8 p.m. on Animal Planet): Series premiere.
“When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions” (8 p.m. on Discovery): First installment of six-part documentary narrated by Gary Sinise (“Apollo 13″).
“Your Place or Mine?” (7 p.m. on TLC): Series premiere. Cameron Mathison (“All My Children”) hosts the new game show.

MONDAY
“American Gladiators” (7 p.m. on NBC): Lou Ferrigno (“The Incredible Hulk”) guest stars on this special “green” episode.
“Greek” (7 p.m. on ABC Family): Second-season finale. Wendi McLendon-Covery (“Reno 911″) guest stars.
“Nashville Star” (8 p.m. on NBC): Sixth-season premiere. Tommy Stanley of Cushing is one of the 12 finalists competing for a major recording contract with Warner Bros. Nashville.
“Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired” (8 p.m. on HBO): A look at the public scandal and private tragedy that led to the legendary director’s sudden flight from the United States after his conviction for unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in 1977.

TUESDAY
“Comic Books Unbound” (9 p.m. on Starz): Looks at the evolution and revolution of Hollywood’s adaptations of famous and infamous comic book characters and storylines.
“Independent Lens” (10 p.m. on OETA-13): Premiere of the documentary “The Cool School” narrated by Jeff Bridges (“Iron Man”). It focuses on the rise of Los Angeles’ Ferus Gallery and the postwar L.A. art scene.
“Nova: Newton’s Dark Secrets” (7 p.m. on OETA-13): Profiles Sir Isaac Newton with re-creations of some of his experiments and important moments in his life.
Judy Garland was born on this day in 1922, and TCM celebrates the late actress by airing seven of her films, including 1940’s “Little Nellie Kelly” (8:15 a.m.) and 1946’s “The Harvey Girls” (2 p.m.).

WEDNESDAY
“Back Nine at Cherry Hills: The Legends of the 1960 U.S. Open” (9 p.m. on HBO): Revisits the tournament that ended in a three-qay tie between 47-year-old Ben Hogan, 30-year-old Arnold Palmer and a 20-year-old upstart amateur named Jack Nicklaus.
“Celebrity Circus” (8:30 p.m. on NBC): Series premiere. Joey Fatone (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) hosts the show, and celebrity performers are (Pictured above in NBC Photo) singer Blu Cantrell, Christopher Knight (“The Brady Bunch), Olympic swimmer Janet Evans, Rachel Hunter (“Dancing With the Stars), Antonio Sabato Jr. (General Hospital), Wee Man (“Armed and Famous”) and Stacey Dash (“The Cosby Show”). 
“Men in Trees” (9 p.m. on ABC): Series finale.
“So Your Think You Can Dance” (7 p.m. on Fox): Features performances by the top 20 finalists.
“Top Chef” (9 p.m. on Bravo): Fourth-season finale.

THURSDAY
“A-List Awards” (9 p.m. on Bravo): Kathy Griffin hosts the inaugural event honoring people who have made an indelible mark in the arts. Tim Gunn (“Project Runway”) hosts a special red-carpet pre-show at 7:30 p.m.
“The Bill Engvall Show” (8 p.m. on TBS): Second-season premiere.
“Fear Itself” (9 p.m. on NBC): New installment titled “Spooked” stars Eric Roberts (“Less Than Perfect”) and Cynthia Watros (“Lost”).
“Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List” (8 p.m. on Bravo): Fourth-season premiere.
“Last Comic Standing” (7:30 p.m. on NBC): George Wendt and John Ratzenberger (“Cheers”) and Kate Flannery and Brian Baumgartner (“The Office”) scout for talent.
“My Boys” (7 p.m. on TBS): Second-season premiere. Nia Vardalos (“My Big Fat Greek Wedding”) joins the cast.
“The Road Hammers” (7:30 p.m. on GAC): New series that follows members of the Canadian country band as they negotiate a U.S. record deal. The eight-episode series is directed by fellow Canadian Jason Priestley (“Love Monkey”).
“Million Dollar Password” (7 p.m. on CBS): Celebrity contestants are Betty White (“The Golden Girls”) and Susie Essman (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”).

FRIDAY
“According to Jim” (8:30 p.m. on ABC): Dylan and Cole Sprouse (“The Suite Life of Zack and Cody”) guest star.
“Battlestar Galactica” (9 p.m. on SCI FI): Mid-season finale.
“Can You Duet” (8 p.m. on CMT): First-season finale.
“Extraordinary Animals” (8:30 p.m. on Animal Planet): Series premiere. William Shatner narrates.

SATURDAY
“Big Girl’s Blouse” (8 p.m. on Sundance): First-season finale.
“Dana Carvey: Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies” (9 p.m. on HBO): Features the comedian who created such memorable “Saturday Night Live” characters as the Church Lady, Wayne’s pal Garth and Franz’s pal Hans. Two decades after his ‘‘SNL” debut, he delivers witty takes on politics and parenting, government and global warming, teens and travel, and much more.
“NYC: Tornado Terror” (8 p.m. on SCI FI): SCI FI original movie about a storm in the upper atmosphere that stalls over New York and causes violent tornadoes that ravage the city.
