I'll miss your recaps almost as much as the show. Loved the Zeppelin and Elvis Costello references in this one. It will be interesting to see where it picks up; I'm just kind of not convinced Don is going to marry Megan. I do think this season had some of the best episodes of the series.

Agreed that this is probably the best season to date. As it was unfolding, it seemed a bit schizophrenic and disjointed at times, but I think on second viewing we'll see a clear arc emerge. I can't wait to re-watch MSR's climb up the social ladder of SCDP.

Still, the last episode seemed a bit on the nose the whole time, with its chekov-like reveal of the ring and so on. Not in a bad way, mind you, but for a show that takes such pride in not revealing its cards until they're played, so much of the finale's turns seemed inevitable. I half expected the final scene to be a broadcasted POV shot through MSR's eyes, that pulled back to reveal Ted Chaough behind a screen stroking a black cat in his lap.

Predictions for next year? I think it'd be interesting if Megan does indeed become a working wife, and a rivalry forms between her and Peggy. At any rate, I expect there to be fireworks galore between the two, likely culminating in an incident where Peggy mouths off to Mrs. Draperbot and Don is forced to discipline (or even fire) his protege if he wants to experience the pleasure program ever again.

Mike,

Glad you liked it, but I don't really hate Megan. No question about her being beautiful, but in the context of the show, Megan is an easy choice for Don: she always tells everyone what they want to hear, while Faye told Don what he needed to hear.

I came up with the MSR because she is so obviously "your basic pleasure model" and her eagerness to please is kind of disarming. When she told Sally "I fall down all the time," it was particularly stunning: would someone that poised ever have coordination problems? She could probably balance on a sewing needle if the occasion required it.

But was she a good choice for the show? Absolutely. Faye could have fixed Don, and if the show and its themes are to continue, that cannot happen.

Thanks again, and come back for The Walking Dead -- should be fun.

Awesome recap. Hard for me to hate Megan they way you do, but I guess I'm already under control of her seduction beam. However, knowing how the show is, unfortunately I think Megan and Don wont be happily ever after. Unless Megan turns out to be a psychotic killer who try's to chop my penis off, if I was Don I'd be happy for the rest of my life.

Ice Storm and key party, good one, I lol'ed.
