Kanye resurfaces with inflated swagger
It appears Kanye West -largely hermitic since his drunken MTV Music Award snafu of last year- has climbed to the top of the mountain to address the masses with a new single from his upcoming album, Good Ass Job.
“Power” finds Kanye more brash and blaringly confident than he’s ever been and the stormy weather and ‘alone-at-the-top’ symbolism seems to give a lot away. Suffice it to say the guy doesn’t intend to apologize to anybody anytime soon.
Good Ass Job is out 9/14 on Roc-A-Fella Records.

Video of the Day: Foals, “Miami”
Oiled up body builders and collagen-stuffed drag queens fight to the death while a mystical low-rider blows blue stuff in their faces. Aww, it’s Monday again? From “Total Life Forever.”

Pre-order the new Dirty Projectors EP

Norman Music Festival 3 headliner Dirty Projectors are pretty weird. So is Björk. Really, it was only a matter of time before they produced something bizarre and interesting together.
That thing is nearly arrived and it’s a collaboration EP called Mount Wittenberg Orca, originally sparked by Stereogum’s Brandon Stosuy and a benefit show at a bookstore. According to Projectors leader Dave Longstreth, it’s about a person watching whales.

Photos: Lou Barlow at The Opolis
I visited the Lou Barlow show at The Opolis last week and snapped some shots of the Dinosaur Jr. founding member.
And it’s worth mentioning Barlow performed in his socks and he rocks.
Good show.
Check out the whole photo set here.

Video of the Day: Crystal Castles, “Celestica”
I’ve always been of the opinion that saying things like “Alice Glass needs to eat a steak” are a tad disingenuous when you aren’t willing to do so yourself. Having said that, the singer for the Toronto synth duo Crystal Castles is just sexy-creepy enough in a creature-of-the-night way, I can see her taking down an entire cow with her fangs.
