Video: Dr. Pants “Sarsparilla Girl” shot on iPhone 4
Oklahoma City rockers Dr. Pants hung out with The Oklahoman videographer Kyle Roberts and a spiffy new iPhone 4.
The results are impressive for a camera phone and the video makes you want to visit Pops immediately.
Check out Roberts talking about making the video.

Dirty Projectors’ Mount Wittenberg Orca released
Last week we told you about Brooklyn-based Norman Music Festival alumnus Dirty Projectors side-LP project with Björk, Mount Wittenberg Orca (pictured above).

The record was released today and is available here for purchase. It’s an interesting one and a must-have for fans and anybody who liked what they heard at the Norman Music Festival Main Stage back in April. Sonic distraction fades away as Amber Coffman, Angel Deradoorian and Haley Dekle’s voices combine to melodically weave about, shepherded by that of mother whale Björk. You can stream “All We Are” below.

Video of the Day: The Young Veins, “Change”
Kinksy! The core songwriters from Panic At the Disco made a wise decision when they dumped their emo joke and went classic. From “Take a Vacation.”

Video of the Day: Janelle Monae, “Let’s Go Crazy” at the BET Awards
Not only did our pompadoured robo-savior of the distant future kill on this “Purple Rain” classic, she did it with P.R. Nelson in the audience. If you have not bought “The ArchAndroid,” the best pop album of the year so far, get thee to a computer and hit “Buy,” damn it.

Stream: New Big Boi
After three years of speculation, delays and rumors, Big Boi’s Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty has finally been released to the public
Now available for streaming on the rapper’s Myspace page, the album boasts a slew of quality singles that popular hip hop has lacked since T.I. was locked in jail. One is the irresistibly cool “Shine Blockas”, which boasts a smooth assist from Gucci Mane which you can watch below.
Also contributing to the MC's fantastically-named record are OutKast partner-in-crime Andre 3000 (as producer) as well as Janelle Monae, Jamie Foxx and legend of funk George Clinton. Sir Lucious Left Foot is out July 6.

Video: Guy from Vampire Weekend catches guys from Radiohead at Glastonbury Festival
Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend was backstage at Glastonbury Festival this weekend when Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood sang “Karma Police” with an highly-approving crowd of fanned-out Brits.

Lucky for us that Batmanglij’s iPhone was apparently in tow. That crowd’s singing is nearly overwhelming.

Video: Ashlee Madison’s “My Escape” Tribute
Friends of Ashlee Madison gathered Thursday to rehearse for a Jazz in June memorial concert, and I thought it would be a good chance to not only film local music but also get some insight into Madison.
She died in April shortly before she was supposed to perform with Oklahoma rapper Jabee at the 2010 Norman Music Festival. I had never seen her perform, but her voice was something special.
Staff Writer Jane Cannon wrote a story previewing the Saturday performance.

Woody Allen feels he’s squandered his career

In a typically self-deprecating interview with The Times in London, Woody Allen reveals that he feels he’s pretty much wasted his career despite having total artistic freedom.
Out of 40 films I should have 30 masterpieces, eight noble failures and two embarrassments, but it hasn’t worked out that way.
Allen says he’s no Bergman, Fellini or Buñuel — and he’s right — but he seems to have forgotten some of the things he’s accomplished. Picking his favorite six of his films, Allen lists “Purple Rose of Cairo,” “Match Point,” “Bullets Over Broadway,” “Zelig,” “Husbands and Wives” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”
That’s right. No “Manhattan.” No “Annie Hall.” No mid-career masterpieces “Hannah and Her Sisters” or “Crimes and Misdemeanors,” of which “Match Point” is merely an inferior shadow. And “Vicky Cristina Barcelona”? Come on, even Woody’s attempt at a musical, “Everyone Says I Love You,” is better.
Incidentally, my six favorite Woody Allen films are:
1. “Annie Hall”
2. “Hannah and Her Sisters”
3. “Radio Days”
4. “Manhattan”
5. “Zelig”
6. “Crimes and Misdemeanors”
