I had the great pleasure of living next door to Marilyn and Carl for several years. They were the best neighbors anyone could ask for -- such a loving and caring couple, devoted to Blake, and dedicated to creating their "homestead". Carl never made a big deal about his notoriety as "Uncle Zeb" and was always interested in exploring ways to express himself. I got to be an extra in his movie and it was such a joy to see Carl at the peak of his creativity.

What a bright light has gone out.

Our thoughts are with Marilyn and Blake. The Ballance "kids" all send their sincere sympathy.

I knew Carl during my high school years the most. His son Blake was a member of the band with us. He was always so pleasant and had jokes to tell. He made a movie not too many people may remember, Cole Justice, Killer Cowboy. I guess it never quite made it here, but it was a good success in Europe. He used our band in part of the movie. It made for quite an interesting day for all. The movie was great and I think it filled a great part of Carl's life ambition. He loved his family greatly and will be truly missed by so many.
My blessings to them and my peaceful prayers to Carl in his spirit journey.
Peace Carl
