Of course, you're right. My point is just that at one moment that night, Channel 4 was wall to wall with storm coverage on their main channel, while their 4.2 station, supposedly dedicated to weather coverage, was running a re-run Jonathan Condor 5-day forcast intercut with national weather maps.

What's the point of having these multiple signals if they don't use them to their advantage?

Now that everyone in the area should be recieving digital signals, it's time for stations to re-think their broadcast strategy. Is it really necessary to do wall-to-wall coverage for a standard severe weather event? Wouldn't updates at each commercial break with a note that if you live in the path of the storm, tune to the .2 channel for extended coverage?

I don't mean this as someone who just gets mad when their show gets pre-empted. At one point wednesday night there was a lowering about a mile from my house. I appreciated the warning and specific information. But most of the time it's just them fawning over their equipment and taking call-ins from chasers who don't have anything to report.

I live in one of those places that are way out from OKC; and appreciate the weather updates. It's help people like us survive & be ready for some terrible storms. I hated missing Lost, but I bet the folks in Anadarko didn't mind a bit. I am anxious to see what the big finale for this year is.

Especially now that all stations are broadcasting digitally and there is a ".2" station devoted to weather coverage, there really isn't much excuse for going wall-to-wall when a storm is isolated on the outer range of the broadcast area. a cut-in and a note to tune to x.2 if you live in the area would be sufficient. Or they just have to admit that ratings are the main motivation for cutting in so often.

Funny one kev! It is important to keep people up to date on tornadoes, and last nights storms were much more important than LOST. I figure they'll re-air it Saturday night. I want to see all three hours, not just the two-hour finale though. BUT, it does seem that more and more, when there are storms that are WAY out of our range, the news stations cover them constantly. Each station has to make sure it has the best coverage so it can get the best ratings. Since when did News stations get ratings like TV shows? It's not like I'm not going to watch one news station over another because they DON'T show enough weather coverage.

a funny moment from last night: we were watching the storm coverage, wondering what was happening on lost, when at exactly 9:58pm a huge thinderclap boomed over our house and the lights went out. My wife Holly immately turned to me and said "I guess the drill hit the energy pocket." Awesome.
