Video of the Day: Colin Munroe, “Piano Lessons”

This is the first song I’ve heard in 2009 that gave me that chill you get when you’re witnessing a game-changer. It’s not the future of rock ‘n’ roll, but it’s the future of something. Munroe is the young singer who transformed Kanye’s “Flashing Lights” into some kind of electro-shock Beatlesoasis anomaly, and he continues to mine this sensibility with his new mixtape, Colin Munroe is the Unsung Hero, which is available here.

This is the kind of music I say I don’t like but really do. Kinda like Kanye. If this guy comes to town and you end up with an extra ticket, you know who to call.

Aw Kev, you just admitted it. Prepare to be assimilated.

The rest of the mixtape is this strange, jaunty bubble-hop, along with a banjo-fueled cover of “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and an odd Dylan remix. A keeper.

I really want to learn how to play the piano, but I only have an old Casio keyboard. Is that good enough to learn on? Where do you suggest I start?

I really want to learn to play the piano, do you have any tutorials or know of any?
