Norman Music Festival Date Set, Starlight Mints Confirmed
Starlight Mints
After attracting more than twice the number of fans expected for its 2008 inaugural event, Norman Music Festival organizers announced that the second annual music and culture festival will take place April 25, 2009 in downtown Norman, with Starlight Mints confirmed for a main stage set.
Jonathan Fowler, Norman Music Festival committee president, said that the massive success of the festival, which attracted over 13,000 fans, sets the stage for an expanded follow-up year.
“This has created much community excitement and momentum, which bodes well for an even bigger and better 2009 event,” said Fowler in a prepared statement.
The 2008 festival featured both local and international acts sharing two stages on Norman’s Main Street, including British Sea Power, the Polyphonic Spree, Colourmusic and the reunited Chainsaw Kittens. More than 30 bands rocked the NMF stages last year, and the committee expects that number to rise above 50 in 2009.
More headliners will be announced early next year. For more information, go to www.normanmusicfestival.com, or call the Norman Arts Council at 360-1162.
