Either/Or, Episode 9: “Mad Men” and Women
In Either/Or, we take two people in similar pursuits, and you choose between them. It can be based on any criteria: professional ability, personality, intellectual prowess, physical pulchritude, or who you’d want backing you up in a knife fight. It really doesn’t matter: just choose Either/Or.
Either January Jones (Betty Draper)…
Or Christina Hendricks (Joan Holloway).
Either Jon Hamm (Don Draper)…
Or John Slattery (Roger Sterling).

Chase, you’re nuts. Joan’s hips are wide enough to provide shade for every ginger in South Park. Sure, Betty is blond, but she drinks and smokes and hates her own kids. Jackpot!
Hands down, Don. Roger is icky, but likeable icky, i guess. But Don is much more complicated. But the ladies….geez….I like them both. Joan is the before….Betty is the after, I suppose. If you can even imagine Joan settling down in the suburbs. I haven’t seen a lick of season 2, so maybe my views would be different. I guess I have to choose Joan. She’s snazzy.
murray is surely a product of our current popular culture with that remark about joan. how predictable. joan would give you one glance and you would do more than soil your pants.
Joan and Don. Mmmmhmmm. Betty sucks on her cigs too hard. Kinda grosses me out. it’s pretty much the only thing gross about her of course..
“joan would give you one glance and you would do more than soil your pants.”
Totally true! She is absolutely gorgeous and in my opinion the best actor of the show.

Hmm…
1. Well, I think January Jones is a pretty underrated actress who does fine on the show, and I’ve always appreciated her for a specific scene in “Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” (look it up), but Christina Hendricks is, well, just LOOK at her. Nuff’ said.
2. C’mon, is this a contest? Jon Hamm is too cool for school … and so is Don Draper, in his own insufferable sort of way.
