NBC Scrubs NBC From “Scrubs”
After seven seasons on NBC, “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence exercised ABC’s offer to bring the sit-com onto the Alphabet if the Peacock passed for any reason. So “Scrubs” will run out its final season on ABC, but NBC got in a final dig.
According to EW.com, “Scrubs” recently shot its series finale and brought in everyone who has ever appeared as a guest on the show. Well, at least everyone who isn’t currently under contract at an NBC show: Masi Oka of “Heroes” and Sarah Lancaster of “Chuck” had to pass.
This is fairly petty stuff, considering that NBC could have had “Scrubs” back for another season, but because it isn’t an “owned and operated” series, it had options to go elsewhere if NBC called in its chips. But now NBC’s attitude seems to be, if we can’t have them, no one will! Bwahahahah!
It’s also slightly galling considering that NBC let Sarah “Second Becky” Chalke moonlight on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” while “Scrubs” was still down on the farm. As much time as I spend watching shows like “30 Rock” and “Life,” not to mention my death march to 20 seasons of ch-chung, NBC seems to be run by little, little people.
