Random 10 for Sept. 2, 2008
1. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, “Please Read the Letter.” A Page/Plant composition from 1998′s Walking into Clarksdale, but given a much warmer reading thanks to Krauss’ gorgeous backup vocals and violin work.
2. Gnarls Barkley, “Neighbors.”
3. Guillemots, “Never Went to Church.”
4. Chick Webb, “Harlem Congo.”
5. Peter Moren, “Social Competence.” This is the Peter of Peter Bjorn and John proving he doesn’t necessarily need his compatriots to make great alternative pop music. Beware, there is much delay on this clip thanks to a lengthy Swedenglish preamble.
6. Radiohead, “All I Need.”
7. Anjali, “A Humble Girl.”
8. The Smiths, “Ask.”
9. Roy Ayers, “Aragon.”
10. Daft Punk, “Digital Love.” Ah, the romantic dreams of circuit boards set to Anime.
