Jackie Chan in “The Forbidden Kingdom.”
“The Forbidden Kingdom,” the film that finally brought Jackie Chan and Jet Li together, swooped into the top spot at the weekend box office during a strangely low-tallying period. The family action pic took in $20.9 million on about 3,900 screens, according to Box Office Mojo.
Mila Kunis, Jason Segel, Russell Brand and Kristen Bell in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.”
Second place went to Staticblog favorite ”Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” which pulled a solid second place with $17.3 million. It underperformed compared to “Knocked Up” and “Superbad,” despite overwhelmingly positive reviews, but at a $30 million budget, it’s on target for profit.
Here’s the estimated totals for the top five:
1. “The Forbidden Kingdom,” $20.9 million.
2. “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” $17.3 million.
3. “Prom Night,” $9.1 million.
4. “88 Minutes,” $6.8 million.
5. “Nim’s Island,” $5.6 million.

The Forbidden Kingdom has every element a good Chinese Martial Arts movie should have especially the female warrior whose hair shrinks and stretches at will. Classic!
