Blecch: Courtney Love, “Dirty Girls”

Courtney Love snuggles with Fester

With percussion that sounds like a old man blowing a snot rocket, Courtney Love’s “Dirty Girls” will likely be praised (by Rolling Stone, natch) for being raw and stripped-down, but some things should be cooked/dressed before they’re let out of the oven/house.

This might be a demo. I hope it’s a demo.  If it isn’t, then I reassert my fallback position: ghost musicians created 1998′s “Celebrity Skin,” and some people sitting on gimongous estates should stop making noise — the braying on this thing could send the donkey population into an erotic frenzy.

It’s not that bad, I don’t think. But it’s not awesome. It’s not laced with awesomeness. If you took a sample and ran a computer the pH would be 7, which is not an awesome pH balance.

How to explain “Live Through This” — which I actually like much better than “Celebrity Skin”?
