CBS analyst Gary Danielson predicts All-SEC championship
At one time, I respected CBS analyst Gary Danielson. When he worked for ESPN/ABC, he gave the Big 12 its due. Since joining CBS, he has gotten on the SEC bandwagon to the point of making some ludicrous comments about the Big 12 and other conferences.
Danielson’s pick for the BCS championship game illustrates this point. He’s picking two SEC teams, Florida and LSU, to meet, even though he doesn’t like the idea of a team that doesn’t win its conference playing for the national title.
Speaking on the “2009 Ea Sports NCAA Football Preview Show,” which will air at noon Saturday on CBS, he said: “I have been a strong advocate for 10 years that you can’t play in the (national) championship unless you win the championship of your conference. Since they won’t listen to me, I will stick it right back to them. I am picking Florida-LSU in the championship. Four teams from the SEC are in the top 10. I see Florida losing at LSU in that night game. LSU losing to Alabama. Florida will beat Alabama. No one goes undefeated. Two left standing, LSU and Florida play for the (national) championship. I think every team will lose a game and I don’t think they are going to put Boise State ahead of LSU.”
CBS Sports begins its ninth year of national coverage of SEC coverage at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 19 with Tennessee at Florida.

Tony Barnhart on punishing Florida State for academic fraud: First of all, let’s be clear, Florida State should be punished. This is academic fraud. It was sloppy and it’s unforgivable. But vacating victories is not the way to go. And I think the same way about the Alabama case. In vacating victories, basically you are saying the games were never played. It is not like forfeiting. I don’t agree with the concept. Do scholarships, do TV, do fines, do any of that, but I agree with Bobby Bowden. This is not fair, in my opinion.

As I listen to Danielson and Lindquist call the LSU – Florida game I realize what an idiot Gary is. Cannot believe he ever played qb. Mustva played without his helmet.

A Georgia player is injured, Auburn fans are booing him, and Gary Danielson says, “Listen to the sophistication of these Auburn fans. They’re booing because they think (player) is faking an injury to slow down the game.” Really? Really, Gary?

Gary does not know what college football is all about,”building charater”. He got me so upset with him trying to sell Cam for the Heisman I switched off the Auburn-Georgia game for Nascar yesterday. He remarked his vote would be for Newton if the vote were today, guilty or no. I agree that Cam is more atheletic than anyone else I’ve watched play this year but the point is,”What about character and integrity”,That also is part of the criteria to win isn’t it? I wonder if Gary has any of either.I’ve watched him on several occasions make remarks concerning challege reviews broadcast his opinion before the review officials have completed the review,could not that put undue pressure on the reviewer? I admire his ability to see and explain each players assignments on most every play, that ,in my humble opinion is his job as analyst without showing his favorite team or bias.
Bear or JoePa would suspend anyone that had this many accusations from different sources,not Bobby Bowden.Winning is not as important as builing character.
I have never heard annoucer like Gary Danielson. I do not believe he should call any of the SEC games. Danielson is one of the most negative annoucers when he is talking about certain SEC teams. Like today, he began the SEC Champsionship by just cutting Auburn down as much as he could. Now, since Auburn is winning the championship he has joined the band wagon. But, he can still not ever be completely positive he has to throw in a negative comment!!!!!
So please send Gary Danielson somewhere else
Gary Danielson’s comments during the South Carolina vs Auburn game were often bias and ridiculous. He was quick to accuse SC of delaying the game by faking injuries but a few minutes later when an Auburn player was injured there was nothing said. His love affair with Cam Newton is nauseating. He mentioned thats we had to trust Cam Newton at his word but failed to mention that Newton cheated and was accused of stealing and destroying a computer at Florida, leaving the university with numerous unpaid traffic tickets. Obviously this is someone we should be trusting! Danielson should be ashamed of his comments.
i need to contact gary danielson to have him contact bill searcey, a man who turned around from drugs and booze and missed is shot not just in football, but his family. he is amazing
Gary Danielson has nothing to say about anything but the great Florida team. Can he just call the game. Keep his one sided opinion to himself. How much more does the network won’t to hear about the jerk before they move him out the door. I will look for other ways the watch this game to keep from listening to this Gary Danielson. One more thing, if this many people are complaining about this jerk, how many didn’t write.
If danielson knew so mcch,he would be coaching. If you listen to him you can tell he likes to hear himself talk more than he cares about accuracy.
