END OF THE WORLD? ANOTHER DOOMSDAY PROPHESY BITES THE DUST

Scores of prophets have predicted the end of the world or large-scale destruction. According to the Skeptic’s Dictionary, Jehovah’s Witnesses “have been wrong so many times that they’ve quit making specific predictions, but they’re still warning us that the end is near.” Among others who missed the mark were Jeanne Dixon, and John Gribbin and Stephen Plagemann. Obviously, the most important thing to remember when thinking critically about this is that

EVERY SINGLE DOOMSDAY PROPHECY–WHOSE PREDICTED DOOMSDAY HAS PASSED–HAS BEEN WRONG

Well, we survived the Decmeber 21, 2012 global catastrophe (or, I’m assuming we will since I’m writing this with just over 4 hours to go on 12-21-12). I recall a student in a nontraditional spring, 1999 college class where his final exam was to occur in January of 2000. During the first few days of class he mentioned there was no need to study for the final exam since Y2K was going to wreak such havoc on the world that going to college would be rendered meaningless. I tried to talk some sense into him and on the day before the last class I asked him once and for all, “are you going to study for the final exam?” He nervously replied, “uhh, I think I should.” Do you think he made the right decision?

Ha ha that is a very funny anecdote. Doomsday anxiety is something that should be tackled with common sense!

People are willing to believe into anything. Nostradamus’s predictions are so vague that they can fit any kind of situation. People just need to go on living there lives like normal and not worry when the world is going to end.

i like this article because it is stating the falsehood of those statements made…i dont understand why they keep predicting these different dates when they have continuesly been. they need to stop trying to predict when the world is going end, and just live life while they still have it…and let god decide when the end is to come! lol:/ thanks!

i believe that planet earth in the futute 2012 will destroy or explosion because they have an critic that earth in 2006 will destroy and now hindi nangyari kaya hinuhulaan sa 2012 ang planetang earth ay sasabog!!!

wrong wrong wrong.
the 2012 doomsday “theorists” are wrong evertime
sure at some point our lives will cease to exist, and a cataclysm could happen on December 21, 2012, but it could also happen tomorrow.

They also claim that the mayans predict the end of the world in 2012, which is not the case. the only thing they make note is around that time (which could be 2012 or could be countless yrs into the future) is the end of a great cycle and the start of a new same as we celebrate when it reaches 12am on January 1st. and this has happened in there recordings countless times. They also have dates recorded beyond 2012 so there goes that theory.

I also might add that this is all assuming the people that are translating the images etc. know what the numbers actually mean. given they weren’t actually present when the Mayan time wheel was made

It’s all a scam for the capitalists to make money off people who would believe everything they are told, same as the world recession was intentional in order to make the conglomerates that much stronger and get rid of the weak.
or wars are fought over lies

Lastly it doesn’t take a theorist to realise that
If society keeps on the path of anti socialness, capitalism and reckless use of resurces, at some point we are gonna run out and society all over the world will be at war. yay there’s the appocalypse i just predicted it

B)

“It’s all a scam for the capitalists to make money off people who would believe everything they are told…”

This is why I don’t plan to see the movie.

well nobody can really tell if the world is just going to explode or not. All that I say is to just live ur life as if it was going to end.
make your day happy do whatever. save yourself from a bad day when it does *if* it does

that is not true

Marjorie–what’s not true?

Its so cool, we now have the next big thing to think about, that’s whats so cool about humans… always hoping that something big is about to take us all out. We are always looking for the next big bang. LOL

Great post! I love your blog! Here is a link to a website I found that has lots of information on it http://www.ufomystery2012.com it talks about ufo’s, crop circles, planet x, the new world order, and has a ton of information on 2012 too.

Of course he made the right decision to STUDY!..although he was stupid for waiting so long.
But every other year we have a crisis. Someone saying that ALL the computers are going to blow up due to a mess up on the hardware? Or like recently the december apocolypse. No one will ever be able to predict when the world is going to end, in the bible it specifically states that NO man on this earth will ever know, only God himself.

He definitely made the right decision to study. There have been many predictions of when the world is going to come to an end, and they have all been wrong. Depending what your beliefs are in life, your opinion on this subject will vary, but as a Christian I have learned that no man knows when the world is going to end. So good thing he wised up and studied!

I think the whole idea of the end of the world predictions are so silly. I think it’s just the need or desire to want to know what the future holds for us. A lot of us will keep trying to find the answer to this doomsday scenario reguardless of how many times we’ve been shown incorrect. I was watching a documentary about a month before December 2012. I was astonished how many people really believed the end of the world was coming. There was even a married couple who were expecting a child soon, who had quit their jobs, sold their home all to spread the news on street corners of the end times coming soon. I could not understand what type of logic would make people behave in this manner. I wonder if they still believe the end of the world is still coming.

Bryan, I am enjoying your blog. I have just begun reading your posts, so I have a lot to look forward to. :) Thanks!

Norman, OK

As for the guy in the above scenario, I believe if he was going to go with a creative reason not to study, he should have had the cajones to ride it through to the bitter end! By waiting until the last minute to study he probably is not going to do well on the test anyway. By caving at the last minute he looks like an indecisive dork.
