Students are used to instantaneous feedback with technology. I am beginning to think that it is affecting their patience when learning new concepts. Quite a few of my students want to give up when they don’t master a concept the first go around. When using a hands on discovery activity, I answered a question with, I don’t know. What do you think would work? My student replied, If you don’t know, how are you going to teach us! This would be faster if you would just tell us!

Can you more clearly define what you mean by technology? Do you mean digital library collections, Google Docs, etc.?

When state standards first mandated computers skills by grade level I found it interesting that kindergarten skills were no different than first grade’s. Priority Academic Student Skills – State of Oklahoma Web Site

ok.gov/sde/sites/ok.gov.sde/…/C3%20PASS%20gr1_12instech.pdfCommon Core Curriculum which is coming into acceptance as the new standards require online testing even for our youngest students. This puts students who don’t have home access to computers at a great disadvantage. I would ask if this is developmentally appropriate.
