This is only the tip of the ice berg. The insurance department is crying out for a top to bottom audit. This Commissioner John Doak folllows a path of recent Commisioners that, once elected, use the agency like it is a 13th century fifdom. There is no one, or no entity, that can stop the Commissioner from doing just about anything he wants, with the stroke of a Pen. And Doak has known this it seems, for quite some time. Who else would bring in out of work politicians with no regulatory experience at 100K a year plus benefits. As well as a House Staffer, that has a Doctorate in Politcal Science. All Doak has is a BA in Political Science. The Insurance Department is also a furtile area for campaign contribution, under what I call a “place at the table” The place is secured with a contrbution from an Insurance Company Exec., an Ins. Agent or special interest groug. This it seems is a reward that is paid back if and when the decision of the Commissioner is needed. The more money that flows to the coffers of the Commissioners re-election the more Ego inflation and thoughts of a higher Power position. Thank goodness for Sen Harry Coats, and that he has the courage to stand up to this type individual, it should be enough to hold Doak off until the voters can eliminate him in 2014.
